Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaya Eubanks.
Hi Kaya, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been active. As a kid, I was a dancer and cheerleader, and by the time I got to college (shoutout to Towson University), I found yoga. After the workshop, it left me feeling so much lighter, so I decided this was something that I needed in my life. I enrolled in a 200-hour yoga teacher training, and honestly, that experience became the true beginning of my journey.
After graduating in 2015 with my B.S. in Kinesiology, I jumped into corporate wellness at Johns Hopkins, where I taught classes, earned certifications in multiple modalities, and created wellness programming. In 2017, I moved to California, where I continued expanding my education and experience in fitness and wellness. It was there that I really began developing flows that felt uniquely mine—and people loved them.
Then, in 2023, I moved back to the DMV area and launched my Yogalates classes—and truly, the rest is history. Since then, I’ve hosted multiple sold-out classes and retreats, creating spaces where I can share something I genuinely love with others. I’m incredibly grateful for this journey, every lesson along the way, and everything it took to get me here.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road at all, but the journey isn’t as sweet without obstacles and challenges along the way.
Honestly, my biggest struggle was often myself. I dealt with a lot of imposter syndrome and I was afraid to use my own voice and I often shied away from taking up too much space. There was always a smidge of doubt in my mind – what if no one shows up, what if I’m not good enough, what if I forget something… what if, what if, what if.
On top of the inner battle, there was the very real fear of leaving my full-time job to go all in on teaching. That kind of leap can feel terrifying when you’re used to the security of a steady paycheck and a predictable path. I remember sitting with so many “what ifs”—what if it didn’t work, what if I couldn’t make it work, what if I was making the wrong decision? But deep down, I knew that staying comfortable wasn’t going to get me where I felt called to be. At some point, I had to trust myself, take the leap, and believe that the path I was creating was worth the risk.
It took me years to quiet the noise, both the self-doubt and the fear of the unknown. But once I gained the confidence and awareness that I could navigate whatever challenges came my way, every struggle became an opportunity. An opportunity to remind myself of who I am and who God has made me to be. And once I finally took the leap, something shifted. The road hasn’t been without challenges, but it has felt so much smoother because I’m no longer fighting against where I’m supposed to be. I’m finally walking the path I was meant to be on.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a yoga and Pilates teacher with 10 years of experience in the fitness and wellness space. Through intentional movement and the introspective work woven into many of my classes, I create space for people to connect with themselves, build strength, and grow from the inside out. My goal is to help people not only move better, but feel better, glow brighter, and become more grounded in who they are.
Most people know me for my Yogalates classes (yoga & Pilates), as I was a pioneer of the style in the DC area. I hosted my first class in 2023 and by the third week of hosting Yogalates the classes began selling out. My yogalates flow strikes the perfect balance of effort and ease, so people leave feeling empowered and lighter than when they walked in.
I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve created together over the past three years and of how our community of ambitious women of all ages continues to grow. This community truly understands that taking time for ourselves isn’t optional—it’s essential. And because of that shared belief, I’ve had the privilege of hosting three sold-out international retreats.
Earlier this year, 24 women and I traveled to Belize, where we practiced yoga, immersed ourselves in the culture, and created space to slow down and ground ourselves as we welcomed the new year. We took time to look inward, reconnect with who we are, and gain a deeper understanding of ourselves so we could more intentionally support the women we are becoming.
What sets me apart as a teacher is the energy I bring into every room. I create spaces where people feel safe to show up as their authentic selves, let go of expectations, and feel genuinely supported throughout their journey. For me, teaching is about more than movement—it’s about creating an experience that reminds people of their strength, encourages them to trust themselves, and gives them space to grow.
