Inspiring Conversations with Amethyst Rhoton of The Amethyst Aesthetic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amethyst Rhoton.

Hi Amethyst, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey after high school by working at Ulta Beauty as Prestige Beauty Advisor. I got close with the cosmetologists there and the eventually the estheticians. I debated on both careers but settled on aesthetics because I was more so in love with makeup. I went to Cortiva in September 2020 – May 2021 then immediately went to register for the practical and theory board exams. After passing, I decided to work at a Day Spa called Spa on the Avenue and learn as much as possible. I stayed for 2 years then went Restore Hyper Wellness and got involved with Medical Aesthetics (fell in love really). After that I worked for a different med spa, but genuinely decided that I wanted to be my own boss so am currently waiting for the place I want to open up. I’m super excited! I have worked my way up from esthetician, medical esthetician, Aesthetics Department Manager, to now Business Owner of The Amethyst Aesthetic while working 2 other jobs.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not, when Restore Hyper Wellness in Canton, closed I had to find a job out of the beauty industry and go part time in an industry that is my passion. It hurt my client book so I am rebuilding it. Because I can only do it part time now, I also have had a time looking for a suite that is reasonable. There have been a ton of bad experiences with management from other jobs in the industry I have held as well. Plus everyone wants to say that you can’t do it or tell you you are doing it wrong. I’m lucky I have such an amazing support system to help me through it, friends and family are incredibly important in this journey.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Amethyst Aesthetic is an aesthetics practice. We do customized facials, waxing, lash lifts, brow lamination, dermaflash, and skin consultations (virtual and in-person).

I am all about making your service and self care feel special and more ritualistic. While everything is not set in stone, my Instagram (@the.amethyst.aesthetic) states “Where selfcare is a ritual.” And I am all for that. We have an amethyst crystal face mask from Divine Aura Beauty that is great to push product into the skin but also helps in relieving stress and calming energy.

I want everyone to have access to self care and feeling confident in their skin so I almost always find ways to make things work for the person. I work with everyone and help guide them in feeling confident in their skin. It’s important to me which is why I offer the consultations.

How do you think about happiness?
I love seeing people feel confidence in their skin and look, while knowing I was a piece in that journey. Skin Care and beauty are important to me because I struggled a ton and sometimes still do. Helping others reminds me of the good in the world.
