Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Eurice.
Hi Julie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello!
Well I guess my career started in theater. My family ran a local community theater and let’s just say I grew up surrounded by the arts. I was fully immersed in it at starting at such a young age. I learned everything and anything theater, whether that be acting, tech, set design, etc. I knew I like to communicate to people through the arts. It was such an exhilarating way to reach and touch the hearts of strangers.
Then it was time to get a job. What could I do where I could connect with people? Marketing and Communications was an easy answer. But I also liked the small business side of theater. So I went to school for entrepreneurship. I started small at a nonprofit that planted trees and then worked my way up to an actual marketing agency.
Then covid hit. Was let go within a year.
But even though I was distraught, it was a blessing in disguise. As soon as I was let go, an opening came up at Savage Mill for a Marketing and Communications Director. I always came here as a child and loved loved loved working with small businesses. I went to school for entrepreneurship, afterall! So, it was an easy fit and here I am today!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not easy in the least! When I got here, there was a lot of work to be done. Savage Mill has been a part of so many lives, but when I got here, the Mill seemed to have passed it’s prime.
Time for a rebrand.
I needed folks my. age to recognize what kind of gem this place is. And at the time, it was stuck in 1986. It was time to revamp but also embrace the past.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Director of Marketing and Communications
Even though I do anything and everything marketing, I specialize in event planning. Theater girl, remember? When folks come to the Mill for one of our Girls Nights Outs or our Yuletide Festival, I love to immerse them in the experience. That includes decor, music, specials, all the things.
I would say we are known for our Girls Night Out. They are a hoot. We throw them once a quarter and expect anywhere from 600-1000 people in just 4 hours. We give out wine samples, have a themed selfie wall, and our businesses have themed specials.
That is newer though. At our core, we are known for the Antique Center. It’s been around pretty much since the Mill was renovated to be a shopping destination.
I’m most proud of the community of businesses that we have here. It’s really a quality group. Each and every one of them has a drive for their small business and it’s so inspiring. Being an entrepreneur, your life is your business. Blood, sweat, tears, and all. It’s not for everyone, but the ones we do have here are incredible.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Erin Collier, Director of Operations and Adam Winer, Managing Partner
They are my #1 cheerleaders. I am immensely grateful for all of their support and friendship over the years. They know how to push me and when I need help, they are there waiting.
It’s incredible.
I’ve never had a team like this before. We are all friends and truly care for one another. That doesn’t happen in real life. We always say we are going to become one of the ghosts at the Mill. We are here till our end. That’s how much we love it and we are in it for the long haul.
