Check Out Tia Dennis’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tia Dennis.

Hi Tia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Grazing on the Go was born during an unexpected turning point in my life. After years of working in corporate America, I unexpectedly lost my job—on my birthday, of all days. What could have simply been a setback became the push I needed to seriously think about what I wanted the next chapter of my life to look like.

I’ve always loved entertaining, creating beautiful presentations, and experiences that make people feel special. I decided to take that passion and turn it into something of my own. I wanted to build a business that was creative and fulfilling, but I also wanted to create something profitable and sustainable that could provide financial independence, build generational wealth, and become part of the legacy I leave for my family.

That vision became **Grazing on the Go**, a Maryland-based mobile charcuterie and event experience company serving Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia.

I started with the idea of bringing an elevated charcuterie experience directly to events through our signature mobile cart. From there, the vision continued to grow. Today, we offer mobile charcuterie cart experiences, grazing tables, custom charcuterie boards, individual cups and boxes, as well as specialty cart experiences that can be customized for desserts, nachos, ice cream, and more.

What I’m most proud of is that Grazing on the Go has become about more than food. I want our clients to remember the experience, the beautiful presentation, the interaction, the customization, and that moment when their guests see the display and say, “Wow!”

Since launching, I’ve continued to build the brand, expand our services, develop our online presence, participate in bridal events, connect with clients throughout the DMV, and position Grazing on the Go for weddings, showers, corporate events, milestone celebrations, and other special occasions.

I’m still building, learning, and growing, but when I look at where this journey started, I’m incredibly proud of how far it has come. Losing my job forced me into an unexpected transition, but it also gave me an opportunity to bet on myself. Today, I’m building something that combines my creativity, love of entertaining, and entrepreneurial spirit—and I’m excited to see where Grazing on the Go goes next.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but I think the challenges have been just as important as the successes.

One of the biggest adjustments was going from working in corporate America, where there are established teams, processes, and a steady paycheck, to being a business owner where you wear almost every hat and the salary is uncertain. I’m the owner, but I’m also the marketer, salesperson, event planner, designer, purchaser, social media manager, and sometimes the person loading and unloading everything at the end of a long event!

Another challenge has been learning how to turn something I love doing into a profitable business. There’s a big difference between creating beautiful charcuterie for family and friends and determining pricing, managing food and supply costs, developing contracts, marketing consistently, finding the right clients, and making sure every event is both memorable for the customer and financially sustainable for the business.

Building brand awareness has also been a learning experience. There are a lot of talented businesses in the event industry, so I’ve had to really think about what makes Grazing on the Go different. That has pushed me to focus not just on the food, but on the entire experience—beautiful presentation, customization, personal service, and creating those “wow” moments that guests remember.

And, of course, there are moments of uncertainty. When you’re building something from the ground up, you don’t always know immediately whether an idea, investment, or marketing strategy is going to work. I’ve learned to be flexible, listen to my clients, make adjustments, and most importantly, to pray and keep moving forward.

The road hasn’t always been easy, but every challenge has taught me something about business and about myself. I’m learning not to expect perfection, but to focus on progress. Grazing on the Go is still growing, and I’m genuinely excited about what I’m building and where it can go.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Grazing on the Go is a mobile charcuterie and event experience company serving Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia. We specialize in creating beautiful, elevated food experiences for weddings, bridal and baby showers, corporate events, milestone celebrations, intimate gatherings, and other special occasions.

Our services include our signature Mobile Charcuterie Cart, grazing tables, custom charcuterie boards, individual charcuterie cups and boxes, and other customizable food experiences. One of the things I love most about our mobile cart is its versatility. While charcuterie is at the heart of our brand, the cart can be transformed into a dessert bar, nacho bar, ice cream bar, or another creative experience based on the client’s event.

I think what we’re becoming known for is making the food part of the event experience rather than simply something placed on a table. Presentation is extremely important to me. I want our displays to complement the event’s colors, theme, and overall aesthetic so they feel intentional and cohesive. With our mobile cart in particular, guests also have the opportunity to interact with the experience and create selections they’ll enjoy.

What sets Grazing on the Go apart is the combination of personalization, presentation, flexibility, and service. I want luxury to feel approachable. Clients shouldn’t have to choose between something that looks beautiful and something that feels fun, welcoming, and accessible to their guests. We work with each client to create an experience that fits their vision rather than offering a one-size-fits-all.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always a mix of creative, curious, and independent. I’ve always enjoyed making things look nice, putting my own spin on things, and figuring out how to turn an idea into something tangible. That creativity has followed me throughout my life and shows up today in everything from entertaining and decorating to DIY projects and, of course, the way I design and present my charcuterie experiences.

I’ve also always been someone who enjoys planning and paying attention to the details. I like bringing all the little pieces together to create something special, especially when it involves family, friends, or celebrating an occasion. Looking back, I can definitely see how those parts of my personality eventually found their way into Grazing on the Go.

As I’ve gotten older, my interests have expanded to include things like traveling, trying new experiences, tackling a good DIY project, entertaining, and even enjoying a good cigar when I have the opportunity. I think I’ve always had a combination of creativity and practicality—I love dreaming up ideas, but I also want to figure out how to actually make them happen.
