Hidden Gems: Meet Dr. Taavon Bazemore of Bazemore Clinical Services, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Taavon Bazemore.

Hi Dr. Taavon , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a Baltimorean at heart born and raised in West Baltimore. I am the oldest of 5 children (mom has 3 kids including me and dad has 3 kids including me). My parents overcame many of the obstacles in life that my clients face i.e. substance abuse, eviction, DV, trauma. This is what motivated me to become a social worker. My lived experiences motivated me continue my education and promote activities, events, and efforts to promote resilience after multiple exposure to trauma.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been smooth progressing in life because “life keeps lifing”! I have accomplished so much as well as lost somethings in the process. In 2021 my baby brother, Darron Harry passed away from COVID, and I was in my last year of securing my PhD then in 2022 my mom Donna Cole passed away from Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer, and I graduated that year with my PhD. So though my life is great its often moments of reflection of the obstacles faced in my journey. I am blessed though and I value every part of my life. I seek the silver lining in all experiences of my life. I prefer to look at things on the brighter side. This is not always easy, but I don’t ever want to forget the things going well in my life or the things I should be grateful for. My lived experience as equal as my acquisition for knowledge has prepared me to overcome any obstacles in this journey.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Bazemore Clinical Services, LLC?
Bazemore Clinical Services, LLC is an organization offering training and professional development for organizations and individuals. We are a board approved sponsor with the MD Board of Social Examiners (BSWE) to develop trainings and offer CEU’s. We also curate community wellness events to promote overall wellbeing resilience and overcoming trauma. In 2019 we created Speak To My Heart which is an open conversation about resilience and forgiveness after experiencing trauma and hurt. These Ted Talk like community events allows me to open the floor to professionals and community members to share experiences, connect with each other and create a safe space for healing, togetherness and support. These conversations are led by me (a license clinical social worker) as guide not therapy.

Another event community event we curate currently is Healing Intentionally Together On Purpose Happy Hour or HI – TOP Happy Hour. These events are usually for an hour or more and we are using this time to give ourselves space to release, reflect, relax and repurpose our lives. We have hosted two of these events in 2026 and will be hosting these on Mondays at Coppin State University using their SheCare Wellness Pods. These events will include an hour of meditation, relaxation and grounding. We ask participants to donate $5.00 only so we can provide food and beverages to those attending. These are curated to create safe spaces for people to distress in life.

I also offer Social Work Licensure prep services to groups attempting to or having difficulty passing their license exams. We offer these virtually and in person. We have successfully support over 50 people with passing their license exam. We usually have the highest impact with people who have attempted but have been unsuccessful in passing their exams multiple times. Our is always to help equip the next leader, clinician and professional with the best skills and tools to help heal our communities. We do this even through our test prep work,

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
We are always looking for opportunities to build contracts with organizations to help train staff and offer professional development opportunities. People can hire us to build, develop and implement professional development opportunities to help staff grow. We also have been hired to speak at company retreats, graduations and many other speaking engagements. We are looking for more opportunities to speak in the community and do community geared events around healing together. We hope to promote the very idea of what community is “togetherness”.
