Daily Inspiration: Meet Jeane Alexander

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeane Alexander.

Jeane, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
When you have kids everything changes you know. Suddenly every moment mattered and every celebration was massive. So of course I went all out of my son’s first birthday. I DIYed a simple backdrop and to earn a little extra money I rented it out when I wasn’t busy. One day someone asked if I could add balloons. I’m someone who see’s something and thinks “I can do that”. So I told her yes, gave her a big discount, just incase I messed it up, and figured it out. From there my business really took off. I quickly rebranded from a DIY mom to a professional balloon artist, and that’s my job title today. I named my business Blue Coast Balloons and the rest is history. I’ve created some pretty cool things out of balloons and my favorite was a 7ft tall Chicken for a Popeye’s grand opening. I was shocked when they said yes to my pitch, but even more exited to create something new and it turned out so fun! We are now almost 4 years in and so happy to keep creating and serving our clients for years to come.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh there are definitely times I’ve wanted to stop everything and just go back to being a mom. You miss out on a lot of time with your kids. In the event industry every weekend you’re working and that’s when the rest of your family is enjoying life. It really took me a long time to figure out what bookings were worth losing time with family and what wasn’t. I’ve also had to move my business twice in the beginning of building my clientele. Each time taught me something new and gave me more courage to get my name out there and start connecting with the community. It’s also allowed me to build some amazing relationships.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a balloon artist. I specialize in balloon art, balloon sculpture, props, and custom backdrops. My job is to create a photo worthy moment for every occasion. My favorite part about this profession is getting to engineer some crazy designs. As AI gets more and more popular clients come to me all of the time with something no human has ever made before, and I get to be the first. I know a lot of artists dislike it but I truly love the challenge. I mentioned earlier that I’ve created a giant chicken. With that came a giant drumstick, luxury backdrops, giant balloon flower bouquets and so much more. I really think that’s what makes me different. I’m not just going to give you balloons and an arch. If you can imagine it, I can create it, and I have always loved a good challenge.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I actually have a degree in cyber security, but as soon as I took my first class I knew it was never going to fulfill me. I toughed it out and gave myself a solid backup plan. Now my diploma sits on the wall never used and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
