Maggie King is a professional destination makeup artist based in the U.S., just a few hours from New York City and Washington, D.C. With over a decade of experience, her work is rooted in a skin-focused, refined approach — enhancing natural beauty rather than covering it.
She began her career by founding and leading a multi-artist, traveling beauty collective and studio, building a reputation for professionalism, consistency, and elevated artistry. Today, Maggie works primarily one-on-one with brides across the United States and internationally, offering a more personal, high-touch experience.
Her destination work spans locations including Puerto Rico, Italy, Portugal, and beyond. Whether supporting an intimate ceremony or a multi-day wedding weekend, Maggie brings a calm presence, editorial sensibility, and deep understanding of wedding-day logistics — allowing brides to feel confident, relaxed, and fully themselves.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As my business grew, I quickly recognized a demand that I couldn’t meet as a solo artist. Brides were looking for a seamless experience that could accommodate larger wedding parties with a full, cohesive beauty team.
What began as a one-woman business naturally evolved into my sister company, MKUP The Beauty Studio. Today, we’re a collective of 23 highly trained, thoroughly vetted Hair and Makeup Artists who share the same commitment to professionalism, artistry, and exceptional client care. This allows us to provide a luxury, stress-free experience while ensuring every member of the bridal party receives the same level of expertise and attention.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Love of art has let me to a career of confection -weddings day connectivity is even more meaningful. This day is captured and photographs that last decades it’s an honor for clients to choose me to be a part of their special day.
I discovered that makeup has the power to do what the perfect outfit can—it can transform how you feel. But even more than that, it creates a moment of connection. A chance to slow down, listen, encourage, and remind someone of the beauty they already possess.
That’s what I love most about what I do. The makeup is simply the medium. Making women feel confident, understood, and truly seen is the art.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned in my career is that people may remember how beautiful they looked, but they’ll never forget how you made them feel.
Early on, I thought my success would be defined by my artistry. Over the years, I’ve realized it’s the relationships, consistency, and trust that have had the greatest impact. I strive to lead with positivity, continue evolving both personally and professionally, and create an experience that feels elevated from the very first interaction to the wedding day itself.
Entrepreneurship has also taught me that genuine care has to be supported by discipline. Behind every calm, seamless wedding morning is an incredible amount of organization, preparation, and intentionality. That’s what allows me to be fully present for my brides.
By the time a wedding morning arrives, my brides aren’t sitting in a chair with a stranger, the goal is to become someone who already knows them, their family, and how they want to feel. If they remember the peace, joy, and connection they felt long after the makeup comes off, then I know I’ve done my job well.
