Today we’d like to introduce you to Canyon Goldeneagle.
Hi Canyon, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In 2019, I knew I needed to understand whether there was a divine purpose to my life or if we were simply a random act of nature. I thought, if I could prove to myself that God really did exist, then surely we were here for a reason. But if God didn’t exist, perhaps we were all just random acts of nature, floating through time like dust in the wind.
I set out on the craziest adventure I could think of for a 20-year-old. I would walk across the country, from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean.
I started on August 10th, 2019, in San Francisco, California. I would then walk through the entire states of California, Nevada, and Utah, before cutting down through Colorado into New Mexico. I would end my journey 136 days (4.5 months) later, right on the edge of New Mexico and Texas.
Although I didn’t quite finish my journey across America, I gained more insight and wisdom on that journey than I could have ever imagined.
I developed a new understanding of the world and came to know it as pure and kind. People surprised me beyond belief, and I now understood just how good people were, no matter what we heard on the news or saw on social media. I was met with pure kindness by people from all walks of life.
I came face-to-face with death when I woke up two feet away from a wild mountain lion and thought my journey was over.
I saved a person’s life as they were ready to end it all.
And most importantly of all, I found that there truly was a helping hand guiding my journey from somewhere beyond the stars. No matter what I went through, no matter how little I had, or what trials and tribulations I faced, there was a divine presence guiding me the entire time.
This realization gave me the knowledge I had once sought after—that our lives, no matter the pain and suffering we go through, truly do have a divine purpose, and it is our divine responsibility to pursue that purpose with all of your might.
As the years have gone on, it has become my own responsibility to help others discover what it took me walking through the desert for 136 days to find. It has become my purpose to help others realize the truth of why we are here, living this life, and to understand, What’s the point?
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No road starts out smooth. It starts with rocks and gravel, and only after many hard hours of work can the way be paved down to become smooth.
Like anyone else, my life has been a rollercoaster. There have been many struggles in my life, but finding purpose has been one of the hardest.
To get up in the morning and push forward is already hard enough, but to think that life has no purpose would make it an endless cycle of misery.
I tend to work in extremes, and therefore, when the weight became too heavy, I had to drop everything I knew to pursue my deepest questions.
Walking across the country was pure misery. My feet were constantly swollen with blisters and pain. My legs were shaking by the end of every day, and the sun beat down on my skin in the hot desert.
But what I have learned in my life is that it is during the times when we face the most stress and we embrace the misery, we are able to grow the most.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As my full-time job, I work as a flight attendant. It has truly been a blessing for me, as travel is one of the most important aspects of my life. This job has allowed me to see parts of the world that I would never have had the opportunity to see, and now, it’s just another week for me.
The greatest part about this job is the flexibility that it has provided me with. I always tell people, “It’s the best part-time job ever.”
It has allowed me to truly pursue my own dreams and aspirations.
As of right now, I am just finishing and almost ready to publish my very first book, written, designed, and published entirely by me.
With everything that I have overcome in life, it only made sense to write about finding purpose in life and understanding what’s the point to all of this.
While writing this book, I have discovered my love for writing and how I can express myself through it. As I move forward in my own life and travel the world, writing has become one of the biggest parts of my life.
My hope for the world is that I can help others discover their own purpose in life, take the leap of faith, and shoot for the stars.
When it comes to your dreams, I hope is to help people realize that the stars are actually much closer than they think.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Reading and writing have changed my life more than anything else.
Reading books like The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield have been the two books that have changed my life the most.
Seeing our life as an adventure toward something greater and realizing that there is a divine purpose to your life is, in my opinion, the single most important aspect of life. Moving forward with that mindset will allow you to move mountains.
Writing has also changed my life. For over 10 years, I have been keeping journals of my life, writing whenever I feel the need to. There have been many gaps between my journaling, sometimes for many months at a time, and other times I would write every single day. But what writing has done for my life has been extraordinary.
By writing down your thoughts, stories, and emotions, you create an archive of who you are at that very moment in time. As time goes on, you can look back on your past writings and see who you were and who you have become.
Almost as if it was another person, you can learn many lessons and a lot of wisdom from your past self.
In reality, it was a different person.
My final message to you, the reader, is this:
No matter what your past holds, no matter what you have done, and no matter what has been done to you, every single day, you are given the gift of beginning again.
You are not bound by yesterday.
You are not defined by your mistakes, your pain, or the wounds you carry.
As The Four Agreements teaches, you must learn to forgive the pains of your past—not because what happened was okay, but because you deserve to be free from carrying it forward.
Today, you are new.
Today, you are whole.
And today, you have the opportunity to become whoever you choose to be.
The past may have written some of your story, but it does not get to write the ending.
