Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasheen Williams.
Hi Tasheen , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m born and raised in Baltimore, and entrepreneurship has always been a big part of who I am. Full Length started from recognizing a need within my community. As a Muslim woman, I wanted clothing that allowed women to dress modestly without sacrificing style, femininity, or individuality.
What started as an idea grew into Full Length, a modest fashion brand serving women through both online shopping and our physical retail location. Over the years, I’ve had to learn so much, not just about fashion, but about business, perseverance, customer service, finances, marketing, and what it really means to keep going when things don’t always go according to plan.
This year marks five years of Full Length, and when I look back, I’m proud that we’re still here and still growing. One of the most meaningful parts of this journey has been building a community around the brand. My customers aren’t just customers they are my sisters! Many of them have supported Full Length year after year, celebrated milestones with me, encourage me to keep going, and genuinely become part of the story.
I’m still building, still learning, and still dreaming bigger. I don’t feel like I’ve “arrived” I feel like I’m entering a new chapter. My goal is to continue growing Full Length beyond what it is today while staying true to why I started: providing beautiful modest fashion and creating something meaningful for the community that has supported me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Entrepreneurship has probably taught me more about resilience than anything else in my life.
One of my biggest challenges has been navigating the financial ups and downs that come with owning a small business. There are seasons when business is great and seasons when things slow down, but the expenses and responsibilities don’t stop. Having a physical storefront adds another layer because you’re responsible for rent, inventory, operating expenses, and making sure you continue to give your customers a reason to walk through your doors.
I’ve also had to learn how to balance being an entrepreneur with being a mother of two beautiful girls. Sometimes you’re pouring into your family, your business, your customers, and your community all at the same time, and you have to figure out how not to lose yourself in the process.
There have definitely been moments when I questioned whether I could keep going, but my faith has played a huge role in how I’ve handled those seasons. I’ve learned to trust Allah, make adjustments when necessary, and keep moving forward even when I can’t see exactly how things are going to work out.
Five years later, I’m still here. And I think that’s something worth celebrating. The struggles didn’t just challenge me, they helped shape the businesswoman I am today.
As you know, we’re big fans of Full Length. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Full Length is a modest fashion brand created to make modest dressing beautiful, accessible, and effortless. We specialize in abayas, hijabs, dresses, prayer garments, and everyday modest pieces for women who want to feel covered without sacrificing their personal style.
What really sets Full Length apart is the community behind the brand. As a Black Muslim woman, I understand firsthand how important it is to see yourself represented in the businesses you support and to have a space where you feel understood. I wanted Full Length to be that kind of space. When women come into our store, I want them to feel comfortable, welcomed, and like they’re shopping with a sister.
I’m especially proud that we’ve been able to build a loyal community over the past five years. Some women have been shopping with me since the beginning, and now we have a sisterhood amongst us. We spend time with one another outside of Full Length, many people gained new companionship through meeting at the store or at our events. That means so much to me because it shows that Full Length has become more than a place to buy clothing it has become a trusted part of our community.
I’m also proud that we’ve been able to maintain a physical storefront here in Baltimore while continuing to grow our online presence. In a time when so many small retail businesses are moving completely online, there is something special about giving women a place where they can actually come in, see the clothing, try things on, ask questions, and have a personal shopping experience.
Ultimately, I want people to know that Full Length was built with intention. We’re not just selling modest fashion, we’re helping women feel confident and beautiful while honoring their choice to dress modestly. And after five years, I feel like we’re just getting started.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is making up dances with my sisters. We would create our own routines, practice them over and over, and just have the best time together. It’s such a simple memory, but when I look back, those are the moments I cherish the most- the laughter, the creativity, and just being carefree with my sisters. Those memories will always have a special place in my heart.
