Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story begins being born and raised right here in Baltimore, MD. My artistic journey started with a deep love for movement—I graduated as the 2008 Valedictorian at the Augusta Fells Savage Institute with a focus on contemporary dance and ballet, before sharpening my craft at Bowie State University and with the incredible Kuumba Ensemble. Since taking that leap onto the screen, it’s been an absolute whirlwind! I had the honor of playing the lead in the Tubi hit Game of Cards, which took home 10 international film festival awards and earned me multiple Best Actress wins, and I was so thrilled to win Best Supporting Actress as Diamond in Commandments of a Female Hustler (2024). Another project close to my heart is Bad Girl Revelation, where we won Best Action Sequence at the Urban Action Showcase Festival—and the best news is that we’re currently developing it into a full feature film! Along the way, I’ve been beyond grateful to be recognized with nominations across the North Star Film Festival, MAMA Awards, Baltimore Crown Awards, and the 48-Hour Film Project, alongside landing roles in projects like Black Therapy, Risky Business, Redline, Sweet Dreams, and Street WAYZ. Performing is my ultimate passion, and I couldn’t be more excited to share that I’m currently working on a whole new slate of amazing projects this year—stay tuned!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Thriving in a saturated acting industry requires A LOT resilience [laughs], as rejection is rarely a reflection of talent but rather a gentle redirection toward roles truly meant for you. I’m a firm believer in everything happens for a reason and when it’s your time then no one and nothing can stand in the way. Staying grounded in this field demands continuous growth, adaptability, and an unwavering connection to a purpose far deeper than fame or financial gain. If you’re only in it for that, then you’re going to burn out fast. Through embracing this unpredictable journey and honoring the love for the craft, since my last interview with VoyageLA, I’ve become more confident as a woman and as an artist—and that’s something no one can teach.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a multifaceted creative force, I specialize in bringing depth, movement, and bold artistic expression to both the screen and stage as an actress, dancer, writer, and going from a stylist to fashion designer. I’m recognized for my screen performances in projects like Game of Cards, Gaslight, and the beloved local series Risky Business. I hope to do another season because Monica (lead) was one of my fave characters to play. What fills me with the greatest pride is seeing Game of Cards achieve international festival acclaim and earn me Best Actress honors at the Beyond Boarders International Film Festival and South Film and Arts Academy Festival, alongside building my brand, Corrupt Couture by SIXX, from the ground up and bringing custom wearable art to this year’s SneakHer Fashion Show back in late June. Above all, I am deeply proud of my personal evolution over the years into an unshakeably confident woman and artist. What sets me apart is my rare ability to effortlessly fluidly move between high-stakes acting, action choreography, dance, and now fine art fashion design—all guided by an authentic, purpose-driven love for the craft that leaves a distinct, unforgettable signature on everything I touch.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
That’s such a great question, and it’s hard to choose. My absolute favorite memory is from my childhood birthdays, when my dad would ask the fruit wagon vendors to let me ride their horse—a moment that sparked my lifelong love for horses. My second favorite is traveling and getting to experience new cultures, foods, and ways of life. I was born with curiosity and the yearning to understand others. That spirit has stayed with me, and I pray it never fades.
