Today we’d like to introduce you to Orville “OH YEAH” Wright.
Orville “OH YEAH”, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2004, I began with a small idea to create music. I wanted to do things the right way as an independant, so I researched creating my own music with copyrights and protection. I then read up on doing everything in music under my own record label, just as Madonna did. I had already written over 100 songs in composition notepads. The conflict was writing music to other producers’ composition, instead of my own. I discovered that I had to do everything from beginning to end. This was a big lesson learned in music as well as business.
I learned to create my own complete music productions, and distributed them to individuals on the YouTube platform. I discovered voids to fill such as personalized theme music to create for people. There are also ongoing battles for streamers with library music, available directly on the platform, where I provide a perfect exit strategy. My music and service is a necessity to help content creators who deal with copyright strikes. So thankfully, my music helps them become more successful in, standing out and growing their branding.
I advanced now under my own company name “Oh Yeah Beats” to create personalized and completely custom music that I use to further empower brands.
I received bigger victories, along with hard lessons to learn from as a musician that placed me exactly where I am today. Through it all, I am extremely grateful and happy to continually contribute towards the success of others.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has absolutely NOT been a smooth road. I don’t believe that any circumstance, where one truly wins, should be a smooth route. We have to learn from experiences and encounters, in order to have real victory stories and knowledge.
I faced difficulties with numerous collaborations in music, issues with multiple personnel projects, constraints with personal life matters that conflicted with busy music schedules, and also discovering the necessity to continue on, even when the applause stops. A lot of musicians and business leaders can crash with any of these conflicts.
One instance, involved a collaboration on a song, with another music composer and two famous musicians. The project had conflicts from personalities that clashed, along with very tight deadlines, and a lot of boundaries that were not respected in regards to the different time zones that we all were in. The executive producer actually shelved the project, although we did still get compensated. From this experience, I learned to know your own personal limits regardless of the project or names attached.
I also learned to be prepared to do everything, yourself. Collaborations haven’t worked most times, for me. The reason is that many artists aren’t as transparent, up front, with what tasks they are truly capable to complete. Times when this has come up, I stepped up to the plate to contribute for them, making sure to adjust the splits (royalties). Paperwork doesn’t motivate every artist. This is also the reason that legal pursuits happen. I fortunately haven’t had to deal with that issue, thanks to being prepared from the beginning of any work.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create personalized music productions and compositions for businesses and individuals. I am particularly known for creating emotional and energetic theme songs and anthems, which highlight brands or business models. The theme songs include not-for-profit organizations and well-known public figures, but have also included children who may have terminal illnesses or motivational kids who encourage their communities through daily messages. I am proud of all of the songs that I have created as they helped to create unforgettable bonds with individuals and communities. Some have even given kids unforgettable smiles. My method of uniting with individuals is how I stand out and set myself apart, along with an amazing set of registered trademarks. I credit all of my progress and success to God.
What are your plans for the future?
I am dabbling in a few different and less familiar genres, which is always fun because I love to learn new things. I just recently revisited the Alternative and Rock genre, which is more uncommon for a Hip Hop/ R&B disciplined artist. I embrace challenge and always look to win. As far as big changes, I know that God has amazing things in store for me and the work He has me doing. One thing that I can share is that I plan to bring a lot of people along with me. The music that I create and my mission is never just about me. What this means is that I want to ensure that others begin winning more commonly, with my success.
