Hi Kent, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started out as a research meteorologist for 9 years, then had the opportunity to become a business owner. I ran this business for 28 years and sold it. Looking to continue applying my skill, I found a position as an Exective Director of a wonderful place based non profit in my neighborhood.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
If you are willing to always be open to learn and others input, most challanges are growth opportunity. Yes, the road has been rough at times, but working with a committed team, we have moved through with strategic action
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about CHEER?
We are a small, but powerful place based non profit in an undeserved part of Montgomery County, MD. We listen to people’s aspirations and needs, develop plans to me these. Our direction is based on the community voice. We focus on health, housing, youth, gardening and Leadership Development
How do you think about luck?
Being in the right time and place when opportunity is there for the taking. Thatvis what happened to me each stage of my varied career. Of course I had to work hard to have the skills and discipline, but being out and about in life give one options.
