Today we’d like to introduce you to L’Erin Epps.
Hi L’Erin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a young single mother, I spent years trying to determine what path I wanted my career to take. I began in the financial industry, working in a variety of administrative roles, until a corporate restructuring forced me to make a difficult decision: accept a layoff or transition into the mortgage department as a loan processor. I had absolutely no experience processing mortgages, but I was fortunate to have an incredible manager who believed in my potential. She invested countless hours in me, staying late several evenings each week until I mastered every aspect of the job. That experience taught me one of the most valuable lessons of my career: with the right mindset and determination, you can learn anything.
A few years later, another company restructuring left me without a job. While it was a difficult setback, it became the fuel for my next chapter. Now as a mother of two, I knew I couldn’t afford to give up. I continued building my career in the mortgage industry, working my way through nearly every facet of the business…from processor to underwriter to loan officer and licensed loan officer assistant.
At the same time, I made another commitment to myself to earn my college degree. I earned my degree in Communications while simultaneously obtaining my NMLS license, believing each accomplishment would bring me one step closer to the career I envisioned.
Although I had achieved professional success and financial stability, something was still missing. My passion had always been real estate….a love that began with my mother’s appreciation for beautiful homes and interior design. I realized that helping people achieve homeownership was where my heart truly belonged.
Once I made that decision, I completely locked in. I dedicated myself completely to earning my real estate license, often studying until two or three o’clock in the morning so I could complete the coursework as quickly as possible. I finished the required classes in just two weeks, passed the licensing exam on my first attempt, and officially became a Realtor.
Initially, I balanced two careers…doing what I had to do until I could do what I wanted to do. I worked full-time in the mortgage industry while building my real estate business evenings and weekends. Eventually, circumstances beyond my control led me to leave the mortgage industry and pursue real estate full-time. Looking back, it was one of the greatest blessings in disguise. Taking that leap of faith allowed me to build a career that aligned with my passion and purpose.
My journey didn’t stop there. As I have always had an interest in the legal field, I returned to school to pursue a degree in Legal Studies. Although the demands of life and growing my business required me to put that goal on hold, earning a law degree remains part of my vision for the future.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, the road definitely has not been smooth. Throughout my career, I’ve experienced layoffs, terminations, and moments where I didn’t know what direction to take next. I’ve also encountered people who doubted my abilities and expected me to fail. But giving up was never an option because I had two children watching me and depending on me.
Instead of allowing setbacks to define me, I chose to view each one as a stepping stone to my next opportunity. Every challenge taught me something valuable and made me stronger, more determined, and more resilient.
One of the biggest obstacles I faced was not having a college degree. I found that many companies were unwilling to give me an opportunity because I didn’t have a degree, despite my experience and work ethic. That accomplishment opened many more doors for me, but I also knew that a degree alone wasn’t enough. I still had to put in the work, remain consistent, and continue proving myself every step of the way.
Over the past four years, I’ve also experienced some of the most difficult personal challenges of my life, losing both my grandmother and my mother. During that time, I stepped away from my business to be present for my children. When I returned, I had to rebuild much of what I had worked so hard to create. While that season of my life was incredibly difficult, it strengthened my faith, made me stronger and more determined, and gave me an even greater appreciation for every opportunity and every client I have the privilege of assisting.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a Realtor who proudly goes by L’Erin Nicole, and I specialize in helping first-time homebuyers achieve the dream of homeownership. I also work with investors, repeat buyers, and sellers, guiding each client through every stage of their real estate journey with confidence, expertise, and care.
What sets me apart is my commitment to my clients and my unique background in both the mortgage and real estate industries. That dual expertise allows me to provide a deeper level of guidance, helping my clients understand not only what is happening throughout the transaction, but why. I often refer to myself as “The Teaching Realtor” because I take the time to walk my clients through the process step by step, ensuring they feel informed, confident, and supported from our first conversation through closing and beyond.
I take tremendous pride in my brand and the relationships I build. To me, my clients are more than transactions…they become part of my extended family. I protect their best interests, and treat every purchase or sale with the same level of care and attention I would give my own loved ones. My goal isn’t simply to help someone buy or sell a house; it’s to help them make one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives with confidence and peace of mind.
Above all, I want the name L’Erin Nicole to be synonymous with respect, quality, integrity, and excellence. When people see my name attached to a home or a transaction, I want them to know they are working with someone who genuinely cares, leads with honesty, and is committed to delivering an exceptional experience every single time.
How do you think about luck?
I don’t really believe in good or bad luck. I believe more in karma, hard work, and the choices we make every day.. I’ve been incredibly blessed to have a strong support system in my mother and grandmother, and the values they instilled in me continue to guide me in both my personal life and my career.
I truly believe that what you put into the world has a way of finding its way back to you. If you treat people with kindness and respect, work hard, operate with integrity, and always strive to be a better person than you were yesterday, I believe those things come back to you in one way or another. That mindset has carried me through both the highs and the lows in my life, and it’s something I try to live by every single day.
