Exploring Life & Business with Anna Oggeri of Bloom In-Home Therapy and Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Oggeri.

Hi Anna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been a licensed Occupational Therapist since 2020, with experience across acute rehabilitation, hospital-based care, and mobile outpatient services. Working in a variety of settings has allowed me to support individuals across the lifespan and develop a well-rounded, functional approach to care.

As I gained experience across the healthcare continuum, I began to notice a significant gap in care for many patients. After being discharged from home health services, individuals were often encouraged to continue with outpatient therapy to maintain their progress. However, for many, these services were not easily accessible. Transportation challenges, lengthy waitlists, mobility limitations, and clinic environments that did not reflect real-life daily activities often became barriers to continued recovery and independence.

Seeing this recurring challenge inspired me to create a different solution. I became passionate about providing therapy in the home, where patients are most comfortable and where the challenges they face every day can be addressed directly. I found that some of the most meaningful progress happens when therapy is integrated into a person’s actual living environment, allowing interventions to be practical, personalized, and immediately applicable.

My goal in starting this company was to bridge the gap between traditional healthcare services and the ongoing support many individuals need to age in place safely and confidently. I wanted to create a practice that meets patients where they are—both physically and personally—and provides individualized care focused on the goals that matter most to them.

Today, my approach remains goal-oriented, patient-centered, and rooted in the belief that everyone deserves access to therapy that supports independence, safety, and quality of life. It is incredibly rewarding to help individuals continue living in the homes they love while empowering them to remain active, engaged, and independent in their daily lives.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a completely smooth road, but every challenge has been a valuable learning experience. Before starting my practice, I worked for a company in Connecticut that shared a similar philosophy and approach to care. During that time, I developed a strong relationship with the owner, who has been an incredible mentor throughout my journey into entrepreneurship. Having someone who had successfully built a similar practice to learn from gave me the confidence to take the leap and start my own business.

When I relocated to Maryland and decided to launch my practice, I anticipated that Medicare and private insurance credentialing would be one of my biggest obstacles. Fortunately, that process went much more smoothly than expected. The greater challenge has been building relationships and establishing trust with referring physicians, healthcare providers, and community partners.

As a new practice, earning those referrals takes time. I know the value of the services I provide and the positive impact they can have on patients’ lives. Once healthcare providers see the quality of care and personalized support my clients receive, they will understand the benefit of partnering with me. The challenge has simply been getting my foot in the door and creating those initial connections. Building a business is a gradual process, but I remain committed to growing those relationships and demonstrating the value of home-based occupational therapy in the community.

As you know, we’re big fans of Bloom In-Home Therapy and Wellness . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a mobile outpatient clinic. Our expert therapists know that real life activities can’t be replicated in the clinic. That’s why we bring our services directly into your home. We work together to create a personalized rehab system tailored to your goals and needs. These sessions are on-on-one with the same therapist, creating continuity and fostering a strong therapeutic relationship.

One of the unique benefits of mobile outpatient therapy is the ability to provide treatment in the environments where you live, shop, exercise, and socialize. When clinically appropriate, therapy sessions can take place in community settings such as grocery stores, fitness centers, walking trails, senior centers, or other locations relevant to your goals.

What I am most proud of is the trust my clients and their families place in me. Occupational therapy is about much more than exercises or rehabilitation—it is about helping people continue doing the activities that give their lives meaning. Whether that means safely navigating their home, remaining active in their community, or maintaining independence with daily tasks, I am honored to play a role in helping individuals achieve those goals.

I want readers to know that my practice is built on a simple philosophy: healthcare should be personalized, accessible, and focused on what matters most to the individual. Every client has a unique story, and I strive to provide care that respects their goals, supports their independence, and helps them continue living safely and confidently in the place they call home.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I believe the most important quality contributing to my success is the ability to listen. Because I provide therapy in my clients’ homes, I am entering a very personal space during what is often a vulnerable and challenging time in their lives. Building trust is essential, and that starts with understanding each person’s unique experiences, concerns, goals, and priorities.

Before I can help someone, I need to truly hear them. I take the time to understand the obstacles they are facing, what they hope to achieve, and what matters most to them. Every individual and family situation is different, and listening allows me to tailor my recommendations and interventions to their specific needs.

I also believe that being a strong problem solver is critical. Occupational therapy is rarely about finding a single solution—it’s about identifying options, adapting to changing circumstances, and working collaboratively with clients and their families to find practical strategies that fit their lifestyle and goals.

Finally, I believe honesty is one of the most important aspects of patient care. There are times when I need to have difficult conversations about safety, fall risks, driving, or the challenges caregivers may be experiencing. While those discussions can be uncomfortable, they are necessary to help clients remain as safe, independent, and successful as possible. My goal is always to approach these conversations with empathy, respect, and a genuine commitment to supporting both the individual and their loved ones.
