Hi Rachel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey in aesthetics started at a young age. After graduating high school, I became a licensed esthetician at just 18 years old. From the very beginning, I fell in love with this industry—not only because of the treatments themselves, but because of the confidence, education, and relationships that come with caring for others.
After having my son, I took a leap of faith and opened The Revitalizing Skin Studio with a clear vision: to one day grow into a medical spa with a medical provider on staff. I built the business on passion, determination, and a commitment to education—not just for my clients, but for myself and every team member who joined me. Teaching and mentoring have always been one of my greatest passions, and I believe the best providers never stop learning.
In our third year, I partnered with Hannah Filippelli, a collaboration we had talked about for years while she successfully operated her own business, Bloom Aesthetics. Together, we united our brands to create Revitalize X Bloom Medical Aesthetics, combining our shared values, vision, and passion for elevating the client experience.
Our mission has always been to redefine what a medical spa can feel like. We believe advanced medical aesthetics and luxurious self-care should go hand in hand. Every treatment we provide is rooted in education, evidence-based practices, mindfulness, and genuine connection, allowing clients to receive exceptional results in an environment that feels welcoming rather than clinical.
Today, while this is our first year operating together as Revitalize X Bloom, it represents the fourth year of growth and dedication that began with our individual businesses. We are proud to have built an incredible team consisting of a nurse practitioner, a registered nurse, four talented estheticians, a patient coordinator, and two assistant front desk team members.
We are honored to have earned a growing reputation throughout Southern Maryland’s tri-county area and have been nominated for Best Spa every year since opening. That recognition is a reflection of our team’s commitment to exceptional care and the relationships we’ve built within our community.
As we continue to grow, our mission remains the same: to lead with passion, never stop learning, and create a space where every client feels at home. When someone walks through our doors, we want them to experience more than a medical spa—we want them to feel welcomed, cared for, educated, and truly seen.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey to building Revitalize X Bloom has been incredibly rewarding, but it certainly hasn’t been easy. When I made the decision to open The Revitalizing Skin Studio in 2022, traditional business financing wasn’t an option. My husband and I believed so deeply in the vision that we exhausted every resource we had. We borrowed money, sold our rental property, used both of our retirement savings, and relied on credit card financing to make the dream a reality. It was the ultimate leap of faith, built entirely on faith, determination, and the belief that hard work would pay off.
Like many small business owners, we also faced the challenge of building the right team. The aesthetics industry is highly competitive, and finding professionals who share the same passion, work ethic, and commitment to education can be difficult—especially in an economy where luxury services are often the first expense people cut back on.
Despite those obstacles, we never lost sight of our mission. Through perseverance, continuous education, and a commitment to creating a positive workplace culture, we have built a team that makes me incredibly proud. Today, I am grateful to say that we have not only established a strong, dedicated team, but I have also successfully paid off every dollar of the debt we took on to start the business.
Looking back, every sacrifice was worth it. Those challenges shaped who we are as leaders and as a business, and they continue to remind us that passion, resilience, and staying true to your vision can overcome even the biggest obstacles.

Revitalize X Bloom Medical Aesthetics offers a comprehensive range of aesthetic and wellness services designed to help clients look and feel their best. Our offerings include, but are not limited to, customized facials, advanced corrective skincare treatments, full-body waxing, lash and brow services, cosmetic injectables, IV infusions, vitamin injections, laser treatments, body treatments and a variety of other medical aesthetic services. By combining advanced technology with a luxurious, client-centered experience, we are able to create personalized treatment plans that support each individual’s unique beauty and wellness goals.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Continuing education has always been one of the most important investments I make in both myself and my business\. One of my favorite ways to grow is by attending industry conferences, where I can learn from leaders in aesthetics, medical spas, and entrepreneurship while bringing new ideas and techniques back to our team\.
At Revitalize X Bloom, we have created a culture of lifelong learning\. We strive to host a continuing education class every month at our studio, focusing on advanced treatment techniques, new technologies, client care, business development, and industry best practices\. We believe that investing in our team’s education directly translates into better outcomes and experiences for our clients\.
Looking ahead to 2027, one of my primary goals is to attend even more conferences focused on medical aesthetics, small business leadership, and practice growth\. I believe that great leaders never stop learning, and I am committed to continually evolving so that Revitalize X Bloom remains at the forefront of the industry while providing the highest level of care to our clients\.
