Daily Inspiration: Meet Keith Dockett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keith Dockett.

Hi Keith, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been active. I played football in high school, some college football, and spent about 15 years playing competitive flag football. Fitness was always a part of my life, but nutrition wasn’t. Even though I worked out consistently, my eating habits eventually caught up with me. At my heaviest, I weighed 288 pounds.

Like so many people, I was searching for a quick fix. I tried diet pills, Hydroxycut, Xenadrine, GoLean shakes, the cabbage soup diet, B12 shots with appetite suppressants, sauna suits, and even ran in trash bags after the sauna suits ripped. I would lose a little weight, but I could never keep it off. Nothing gave me lasting results.

One day, someone came out to my flag football team and introduced Herbalife. The first time, I said no. Honestly, I had convinced myself that maybe I was just meant to be the big guy. I could laugh about it and make jokes, but deep down I wanted something different. I wanted to be healthy. I wanted to age gracefully. I wanted to become the best version of myself.

Not long after, a childhood friend was diagnosed with diabetes. That really made me stop and think about my own future. When the opportunity to try Herbalife came around again, I decided to say yes.

That decision changed my life.

During my first year, I lost 50 pounds. Over the next two and a half years, I lost more than 100 pounds. As grateful as I am for the physical transformation, the weight loss isn’t what I’m most proud of.

The greatest transformation wasn’t what happened to my body. It was what happened to my mind and my heart.

I learned discipline. I learned consistency. I learned how to keep promises to myself. I realized I wasn’t just carrying physical weight. I was carrying fear, self doubt, limiting beliefs, and years of telling myself that maybe success was for other people and not for me.

As I grew stronger physically, I also grew stronger mentally and emotionally. That’s when I realized that real transformation goes far beyond fitness.

I spent eight years working in Information Technology for Hewlett Packard, but my passion had shifted. I found myself wanting to help people experience the same transformation I had experienced. I started coaching people on nutrition and training clients before work every morning. I would get up at 4:30, train clients, work out myself, then head to my full time job.

Eventually, I took a leap of faith. In 2016, I left corporate America to pursue my purpose. I drove Uber and Lyft, not only to earn an income, but because it allowed me to meet people every day. Every conversation became an opportunity to encourage someone, share my story, or introduce them to a healthier lifestyle.

As I continued building my Herbalife business, I was introduced to the Nutrition Club model. I immediately fell in love with the vision. I wanted to create more than a place that served healthy shakes and teas. I wanted to build a community where people felt welcomed, encouraged, supported, and believed in.

That vision became Elevation Nutrition Club.

Today, we’ve proudly served our community for more than four years. It’s become a place where people come not only to improve their health, but to build friendships, find encouragement, and become part of something bigger than themselves.

Along the way, I became a certified personal trainer and began coaching clients both in the gym and privately. I also created my online coaching program, The Elevation Method, which is built around a philosophy I call Transformation Beyond Fitness.

Weight loss and nutrition are important, but they’re only the beginning. Real transformation is learning how to handle adversity instead of running from it. It’s developing discipline when motivation fades. It’s building confidence by keeping promises to yourself. It’s improving your relationship with yourself so you can become a better spouse, parent, leader, friend, and member of your community.

I believe when you change the way you think, everything else begins to change.

Today, I wear several hats. I’m a personal trainer, an Herbalife Independent Distributor, a business coach, a co owner of Elevation Nutrition Club, and the creator of The Elevation Method. While those titles describe what I do, they don’t define why I do it.

My mission is Transformation Beyond Fitness.

My goal isn’t simply to help people lose weight. It’s to help them discover confidence, purpose, resilience, and a belief in themselves that they may have never had before.

Looking back, I don’t believe my story is about losing 100 pounds.

It’s about becoming the man God created me to be.

The greatest gift I’ve received through my own transformation is the opportunity to help someone else experience theirs. That’s my purpose. That’s my passion. And it’s the work I’m honored to do every single day.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and honestly, I’m grateful for that because the obstacles shaped the man I am today.

Some of my biggest challenges didn’t have anything to do with business or finances. They started long before that.

I grew up in a negative environment, and my father wasn’t a part of my life. For a long time, I struggled with confidence and self worth. I became a people pleaser because I was constantly looking for validation from others instead of finding it within myself.

One of the biggest mindset shifts I had to make was changing the way I saw myself. I used to think negatively as a way to protect myself. If I expected failure, then it wouldn’t hurt as much when it happened. It was easier to say, “I knew this wouldn’t work,” than to believe in myself and risk being disappointed.

As I pursued entrepreneurship, life tested me in every way imaginable. I went through a divorce. I experienced financial setbacks, repossessions, damaged credit, and moments where it felt like every step forward was followed by two steps back. While building my business, there were days I drove Uber for 10 or 12 hours just to make ends meet. Sometimes I would pull into a parking lot or charging station just to get a little sleep before getting back on the road.

Building a business wasn’t easy either. I watched teams grow and then disappear. People I believed would be with me for the long haul decided to walk away. There were moments when I questioned whether I should keep going.

But every obstacle taught me something.

Those experiences taught me resilience. They taught me patience. They taught me that confidence isn’t something you’re born with. It’s something you build by keeping promises to yourself, especially when life gets hard.

Looking back, I realize those seasons weren’t happening to me. They were preparing me.

Today, when I coach someone through weight loss, nutrition, or fitness, I’m not just helping them change their body. I’m helping them change the conversation they’re having with themselves. I understand what it’s like to doubt yourself, to struggle financially, to feel alone, and to wonder if things will ever get better.

That’s why my philosophy is called Transformation Beyond Fitness.

The physical transformation is important, but the greatest victory is learning to believe in yourself, face adversity with courage, and become someone your past no longer recognizes.

Every challenge I’ve faced has strengthened my faith, shaped my character, and given me the ability to genuinely understand and serve the people I coach today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Today, I wear several hats. I’m a certified personal trainer, an Herbalife Independent Distributor, a business coach, a co owner of Elevation Nutrition Club, and the creator of The Elevation Method. While those titles describe what I do, they don’t fully explain why I do it.

What I’m most passionate about is helping people experience Transformation Beyond Fitness.

Yes, I help people lose weight, build strength, and improve their nutrition. But that’s only the beginning. My real work is helping people change the way they see themselves.

I believe that confidence isn’t something you’re born with. It’s built every time you keep a promise to yourself. Every workout completed, every healthy meal chosen, and every obstacle overcome becomes evidence that you’re capable of more than you believed.

What sets me apart is the relationships I build with my clients. I don’t see people as transactions or memberships. I genuinely invest in them. I want to know what they’re struggling with, what they’re afraid of, what they’re working toward, and who they want to become. My clients know they can count on me for accountability, encouragement, honesty, and support.

I’m just as interested in helping someone become a better husband, wife, parent, leader, or friend as I am helping them lose twenty pounds. Health is simply the vehicle that often unlocks the rest of their life.

What I’m most proud of isn’t any title or business accomplishment. It’s my ability to recreate myself.

There were seasons where I had to stand alone. I had to let go of the need for approval from family, friends, and other people around me. I had to stop living according to other people’s expectations and start becoming the man I believed God created me to be.

That journey wasn’t easy, but it gave me something no one can take away. It gave me my identity.

Everything I’ve built today, from Elevation Nutrition Club to my coaching business and The Elevation Method, was built from that foundation. My purpose is simple. I want to help people become healthier, stronger, more confident, and more resilient so they can live the life they were created to live.

At the end of the day, I don’t believe I’m in the fitness business.

I believe I’m in the transformation business. Weight loss may bring people through the door, but helping them change their lives is what keeps me passionate about the work I do every single day.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I believe having a mentor is one of the best investments you can make in yourself. We all have blind spots, and no matter how talented or driven we are, we can’t always see what’s holding us back. A good mentor can.

The best mentors don’t simply encourage you. They challenge you. They hold you accountable. They tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. They help you see a bigger vision for your life and push you to become the person capable of achieving it.

I also believe a mentor should be willing to get in the trenches with you. Success isn’t built from the sidelines. It’s built during the difficult seasons when you’re questioning yourself, facing setbacks, or wondering if you should keep going. Those are the moments when great mentors make the biggest impact.

One lesson I’ve learned is that mentors don’t always have to be people you know personally.

Some of my greatest mentors have been through books, podcasts, and YouTube. I regularly listen to Jim Rohn, Inky Johnson, Les Brown, Dr. Myles Munroe, David Goggins, and Trent Shelton. Although I’ve never met most of them, their wisdom has challenged my thinking, strengthened my mindset, and helped shape the leader and coach I am today.

I believe we’re all a product of the voices we listen to consistently. That’s why I’m intentional about surrounding myself with people who inspire me to grow, think bigger, and become better.

My advice is simple. Find someone whose life reflects the person you want to become. Stay teachable. Be coachable. Apply what you learn. A mentor can give you information, but transformation only happens when you’re willing to put it into practice.
