Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashree Shah.
Ashree, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
By day, I’m a full-time corporate girl, and by night, I’m the baker behind Ashree’s Bakeree. I’ve always loved anything creative growing up, and somewhere along the way, I realized the kitchen was the perfect place to mix my creativity with my love for food.
My baking journey really started during the pandemic when I began learning how to cook and bake from scratch, experimenting with unique fusion desserts and eye-catching presentations. Whenever I hosted or had guests over, I’d serve my latest creations which sparked the idea to start selling them.
What started as a fun way to showcase my creations during the pandemic, quickly turned into a little side hustle… and now a huge part of my life.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road! Launching during the pandemic came with its own set of challenges, especially when it came to finding clients early on. To add to the mix, I had just started my master’s program while balancing my corporate job, so finding the time to bake, experiment with new recipes, and build a business from scratch was a huge hurdle.
There were definitely moments where it felt overwhelming, but I was lucky to have an incredible support system. My family and my fiancé (now husband) constantly encouraged me, helped me stay grounded, and pushed me to keep going. Their support made all the difference in turning those early struggles into a successful side hustle.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Day-to-day, I work as a Healthcare Consultant at a Consulting Firm after earning my Master’s in Healthcare Administration. Outside of my corporate career, I’m a big DIY enthusiast and love finding creative ways to bring hands-on projects into my everyday life, whether it’s work or organizing my kitchen pantry with personalized labels.
That same creative drive flows directly into Ashree’s Bakeree! I specialize in fusion dessert shooters, custom cake pops, gourmet cupcakes, and unique sweet treats. I’m best known for blending flavors inspired by my culture with classic desserts, giving familiar treats an exciting, modern twist. What sets my work apart is that artistic, DIY detail. Every dessert is thoughtfully designed to be an eye-catching centerpiece that tastes just as good as it looks!
What I’m most proud of is taking a lockdown hobby born in my kitchen, while balancing graduate school and growing it into a thriving business that now brings sweet, handcrafted moments to people all across the DMV!
