Check Out Yolanda Christensen’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yolanda Christensen.

Hi Yolanda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
First I’d like to say thank you very much for this opportunity. I’m truly honored to share my story. My Journey with Benevolent Art LLC is deeply rooted in my lived experience as a caregiver for over 40 years and caregiving has been a central part of my life shaping not only who I am, but also, the purpose behind my stewardship. For fourteen years straight without rest sometimes Without bathing sometimes even without eating I cared for my parents navigating through the emotional physical and spiritual demands required when it comes to supporting loved ones either through aging and/or chronic medical illnesses. And, the seasons of my life taught me or should I say have given me, resilience Compassion Important moments of finding piece, stillness restoration an expression even in the most challenging times.

Three years later in March of 2022, My path or as some people say my life shift it again when my husband experienced a heart attack. Right in the midst of this crisis carried everything full circle for me…how vital it is for caregivers to have outlets for healing, reflection, Self care, Support, advocacy. And during this time, the vision for Benevolent Art LLC truly came into fruition.

Benevolent Art is created in communities to merge creativity with caregiving, to offer space where art, reflection, respect, safety, advocacy, quality, and individuality become healing tools of encouragement and emotional support aiming to uplift caregivers and others who are navigating difficult seasons, helping them feel supported and inspired.

In addition to my creative work, I’m actively developing community initiatives as part of the benevolent art framework. These initiatives are designed to bring caregivers and individuals together through workshops shared creative experiences and supportive spaces where healing can happen collectively. My goal is to build a compassionate community, not only valuing artistic expression, also fostering connection, understanding, and mutual encouragement. Hosting annual events celebrate appreciation and giving back through the Caring Hearts initiative where I am currently seeking to collaborate with businesses sharing a commitment to supporting caregivers and strengthening the community.

Today, Benevolent Art LLC and the Caring Hearts Initiative reflects this journey…built on integrity, commitment, compassion, lived experiences, and a deep desire to serve others through creativity, community, collaboration, and purpose.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, not at all. I believe the most meaningful work in life will rarely, never, begin on smooth roads. And honestly I believe that every challenge in life becomes another brush stroke in the master plan which God is still creating for me. And, the path has been beautifully imperfect which I continue to embrace. Every challenges refines both my vision and shapes the purpose.

As a solo founder, I built Benevolent Art LLC from the ground up. Every step, every stone, has come through hands-on work. From developing the vision, writing the content, to marketing, budgeting, event planning, hiring, and cultivating community partnerships. Yes it’s been challenging, but it has also given me (and continues) a deep appreciation for every step of this journey. Another challenge has been building a purpose driven business with limited financial resources while creating meaningful connections in a small community where I knew very few people. So every opportunity required me to show up, introduce myself, volunteer, sponsor, and build trusting relationships one at a time. These experiences have taught me resilience, resourcefulness, and the value of building authentic relationships.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I founded Benevolent Art LLC to bring together two parts of my life that have always been connected creativity and caregiving. After more than four decades of caring for family members, loved ones, friends, and even strangers, I am blessed with an understanding of healing isn’t physical-it also happens when we as human beings feel seen, heard, appreciated, respected, and supported.

Today I am creating experiences Would you use art to encourage reflection connection and community. This stewardship includes caregiver initiatives creative workshops, community partnerships, speaking engagements, and original artwork designed to inspire hope and meaningful conversations. Everything I create is rooted in lived experiences, compassion with a that creativity can help restore the human spirit.

What I’m most proud of isn’t a single accomplishment. It’s witnessing someone pause, take a deep breath, and recognize they don’t have to carry life’s burdens alone. These moments remind me why I founded Benevolent Art and reaffirm the purpose behind everything I am blessed to continue to create

And if there’s one thing which defines my approach it’s I don’t simply create art. I create spaces where people can connect reflect and began to heal together. And my hope is that every person who encounters Benevolent Art LLC and the Caring Hearts Initiative leaves feeling encouraged, valued, and a little more hopeful, than they arrived.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
This is all about intention and integrity, correct? So here’s the truth. Before I could build Benevolent Art LLC and the Caring Hearts Initiative I had to start rebuilding myself-and continue this journey everyday. Healing is ongoing for me, it never ends…I continue to grow in every season.

After losing my parents, I was carrying a lot of grief and exhaustion. A great deal of loss of confidence that I hadn’t fully acknowledged. Before I sought a mentor, I sought a therapist. This decision helped and continues to help me heal, rediscover my voice, and understand caring for myself is an essential part of my journey.

Only then and now am I ready to embrace mentors and build authentic relationships. I’ve learned networking isn’t about collecting contacts it’s about cultivating genuine relationships, with people, who share your values, and encourage your growth.

What is work for me is investing in the person behind this dream,. Healing continues to give me the clarity and confidence to build Benevolent Art LLC with purpose, integrity, and heart. I believe when we care for ourselves, we’re better able to care for others and fully embrace the opportunities and relationships meant for us.
