Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Noelle Freddie Butler.
Hi Kristen Noelle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Kristen: Honestly, it started with frustration. I’d been running my business KN Digital Marketing for a while, helping smart, accomplished people (speakers, consultants, government folks) build their brand identity, their voice in business, and land clients. And I kept hitting the same wall. Their strategy was solid. Their content was not. Someone would show up to a discovery call looking like the expert they are, and then you’d check them out online beforehand and get nothing, or worse, something that undersold them completely. I’d lived abroad, worked in the corporate world, seen a lot of different business cultures, and this was one problem I saw everywhere. At some point I stopped just advising people to fix it and started thinking about how to actually fix it for them.
Freddie: I came at it from real estate and recruiting, both businesses where being visible is basically the whole game. I’ve watched plenty of talented people lose out to someone louder and more consistent online, not more skilled, just more visible. When Kristen brought me into what she was building, it made immediate sense. DC born, PG County raised, and I wanted to build something here, in the community that raised me.
So Venture to Bloom became our answer. Pop-up content days instead of a big studio we couldn’t afford yet. Real strategy behind the camera, not just nice videos. We’re still early, but the model is working, and we’re building it the way we said we would: on purpose, at our own pace.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Freddie: It hasn’t been rocky, but it hasn’t been effortless either. The early struggles were mostly logistics: figuring out the actual flow of a content day. How many meetings do we need with a client before we even show up to shoot? What does the timeline look like from the second someone walks in to the second they leave? We had to build that from scratch. Staffing was the other one. Finding videographers and photographers who were not just talented but efficient, who could keep pace with how we run things, took some trial and error.
Kristen: Nothing worth building comes without bumps, so I don’t think we ever expected a completely smooth road. The real challenge for us has been capacity. We’re building Venture to Bloom on top of full-time jobs, and on top of businesses we each already run individually. There’s a lot we want to pour into this, and the time just isn’t always there. That means we can’t scale as fast as we’d like to. We’re working through it, but it’s the honest answer.
Building something this deliberately, at the pace our actual lives allow instead of the pace social media makes you feel like you need to move at, has been its own kind of discipline. We’d rather do it right than do it fast.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Venture to Bloom?
Freddie: At the core, Venture to Bloom is a content studio built around pop-up content days for entrepreneurs and business teams in the DMV. But we always tell people, we’re not just pointing a camera at you. Everything starts with strategy. What’s this content supposed to do for your business? That question comes before anything else.
Kristen: What we’re known for is making sure the content actually matches the expertise. We work with a lot of people who are excellent at what they do but whose online presence doesn’t reflect that yet. So we specialize in closing that specific space between how good you are and how good you look online. That’s really the whole business in one sentence.
Freddie: What sets us apart is experience on both sides. I’m a realtor, so I know what it’s like to be the business owner needing content, not just the person producing it. Combine that with 15-plus years in sales for me and a similar stretch in marketing for Kristen, and clients aren’t getting a couple of people who just picked up cameras. They’re getting people who’ve actually run businesses like theirs.
Kristen: I’m proud of how fast we’ve been able to prove this model works. We’ve already worked with over a dozen clients through our content days, and we just wrapped a full Executive Edge package where the before and after still gets me every time I look at it. She wasn’t doing anything wrong before. She just wasn’t showing up online the way she shows up in real life, and now she is.
Freddie: And I’m proud of how intentional we are about everything, the content days themselves, the brand, the way we show up on every single client call ourselves. We’re not hands-off founders. We’re in it.
Kristen: The last thing I’ll say is what I want every reader to walk away understanding. We’re not asking you to become a content creator. You don’t need to live on social media or learn to edit anything. We take that off you completely. You just show up, and we handle the rest.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Freddie: What makes me happy is progress. Taking somebody who’s dealing with a real issue in their business and watching them move through it, step by step, until they’re somewhere completely different than where they started. That transformation, in them and in their business, is what does it for me. Every time.
Kristen: I’ve said this for years, but what makes me happy is helping someone design and live their most fulfilling life. Not a generic version of success, their version. Building the business they actually want, making the kind of money that lets them do more of what they love, working on things that light them up creatively. Because at the end of the day, revenue is just a tool. It’s what buys you the freedom to travel, read, spend real time with people you love, go on adventures, or honestly just rest and do a puzzle and not think about work at all. That’s why I do this. Not for the income itself, but for what the income lets me build a life around.
