Meet Marcus Smoot of WRTR Real Talk Radio’

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Smoot.

Marcus, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Marcus Smoot. At home, I’m a quiet, introverted news buff that stays to himself, loves bacon & is passionate about reading and absorbing knowledge.

Professionally, I am a Podcaster, Radio Personality and Activist nearing my 14th anniversary of doing this.

I host a show, WRTR Real Talk Radio, with my cohost Lyric Bravado. I’m also a social media presence that amplifies the thoughts and opinions of those that aren’t always celebrated in the manner that I feel like they should be!

I’d like to think of myself as someone that stays hyperaware of the ever so changing circumstances in our country; and I work hard to filter through the distractions and foolishness to critically think and share the headlines, dissect the story, steer clear of the distractions and have the discussions about the information I feel like we ‘should’ be paying attention to.

I aim to be the change I’d like to see.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I feel like podcasting and really any means of creativity comes with its own sets of challenges. For me specifically, I’d say the hardest thing is timing and catering to an audience. There are so many different opinions on a so I work hard to discuss what is factual, versus what is opinion. People don’t always receive either well.
