Life & Work with Katrina Henderson of Maryland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katrina Henderson.

Katrina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey has been anything but traditional. For many years, I worked in the corporate world while also building my business, Unbreakable Memories. My mission was born from my own journey of overcoming the limiting beliefs I carried about my worth and what it meant to be beautiful. As I began sharing my story, I realized I wasn’t alone. So many women were carrying the same doubts and insecurities.

That’s when Hello My Name is Beautiful® began. The seed was planted through a simple T-shirt design, but it quickly grew into a much bigger conversation about about redefining what it means to be beautiful.

A few years later, while planning a birthday celebration for my daughter, I found myself thinking about the messages little girls receive about beauty and self-worth. That experience expanded my vision. I wanted my daughter and other girls to grow up knowing their value was not tied to their appearance, accomplishments, or the opinions of others. From that moment, the mission grew beyond a message and became a movement.

Today, Hello My Name is Beautiful® exists to help women and girls embrace self-love, build confidence, find their voice, and redefine beautiful on their own terms. Through products, events, workshops, and meaningful conversations, I strive to create spaces where people feel seen, valued, and empowered.

Recently, I made another unexpected shift and followed a calling into education. Today, I am a kindergarten teacher while continuing to grow my brand and its mission. What I’ve realized is that the work isn’t all that different. Through Hello My Name is Beautiful®, I help women and girls recognize their worth. In the classroom, I get to do that at the very beginning of a child’s story, helping them find their voice, build confidence, and believe in themselves.

Looking back, every chapter of my story has taught me something about resilience, faith, and the power of embracing who you are. Whether I’m in a classroom, speaking to a group of women, or creating resources that encourage self-worth, my goal remains the same: to help others redefine what it means to be beautiful and discover that beautiful isn’t something they have to earn. It’s who they were created to be.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve experienced seasons of growth, seasons of uncertainty, and moments when I questioned whether I was on the right path.

One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to balance multiple roles. Over the years, I have been a business owner, wife, mother, student, and now a kindergarten teacher. Each role requires time, energy, and attention, and there have been seasons when it felt impossible to give everything the attention it deserved.

Another challenge has been learning to redefine success. Early on, I measured success by sales, attendance, and external results. While those things matter, I’ve come to realize that impact isn’t always reflected in numbers. Sometimes success looks like a woman finding the confidence to use her voice, a young girl recognizing her worth, or a student believing in themselves for the first time.

My transition into education also came with its own challenges. Starting over in a new career later in life required me to step outside of my comfort zone, return to school, and embrace being a beginner again. There were moments of self-doubt, but those experiences reminded me that growth often requires us to be willing to learn, adapt, and trust the process.

Looking back, I wouldn’t change any of it. The challenges have strengthened my faith, deepened my resilience, and helped shape both the person and leader I am today.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At the heart of everything I do is purpose and using my voice and story to help others recognize their worth and redefine what it means to be beautiful. Through my brand, Unbreakable Memories, and the Hello My Name is Beautiful® movement, I create products, programs, and encounters that encourage self-love, confidence, and personal growth.

Over the years, my work has included empowering women through workshops and encounters, creating journals and resources that encourage reflection and healing, and developing programs for girls that help them build confidence and a strong sense of self-worth. And now, my work has expanded into education, where I have the honor of helping young children find their voice, build confidence, and believe in themselves from the very beginning of their journey.

What I am most proud of is the impact. While products and programs are important, the stories are what stay with me. Hearing a woman say she finally sees herself differently, watching a young girl discover her confidence, or seeing a student realize they are capable of more than they thought reminds me why this work matters.

I believe what sets me apart is that my mission isn’t something I turn on and off depending on the setting. Whether I am leading a workshop, creating a journal, speaking to a group, or teaching in a kindergarten classroom, the goal is the same: helping people see themselves differently. That mission is deeply personal because it grew out of my own journey of overcoming limiting beliefs, discovering my worth, and redefining what it means to be beautiful.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5 to 10 years, I believe one of the biggest challenges will be helping people maintain a strong sense of identity and self-worth in a world that is increasingly influenced by social media and external validation. We are constantly exposed to highlight reels of success, beauty, and achievement, and it can become easy to measure our worth against what we see online.

Because of that, I believe there will be an even greater need for conversations around authenticity, confidence, and self-acceptance. People are looking for real connection and meaningful community, but they also need tools to navigate the pressure of comparison and the pursuit of validation.

My hope is that we will continue shifting the conversation from seeking approval to embracing who we are. Whether through personal development, education, or community-focused activities, I believe the future will require us to help people build confidence from the inside out rather than relying on external measures of success.

No matter how much technology evolves, there will always be a need for work that reminds people of their value, helps them find their voice, and encourages them to live authentically.
