Today we’d like to introduce you to Sirene Noir Sidora Jackson.
Hi Sirene, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi there! my name is Sirene Noir Sidora Jackson, I’m a nonbinary Dc native and I’ve been doing drag for seven years. And boy do I have a story to tell………
I actually got my start through an ex fiancée. He just so happened to be friends with a local queen, Nubia Love Jackson, she helped me to figure out my face, drag aesthetic, and name. I combined My love for mermaids and French culture with a hint of nerd and boom! On March 17, 2017 Sirene was born.
I got my first booking at snatched Wednesdays at Nellies sports bar in DC, soon after that the demand for sirene was inevitable, I worked a lot of brunches and shows in the dmv area and even competed in two pageants, Pitchers World Series at Pitchers sports bar , and Miss Yums at Trade ( this was all pre covid) though I did not win, it elevated my drag tremendously.
Right before the start of covid (December 2019 ) my abusive ex fiancée ended up breaking up with me, kicked me out of our home and threw away half of my drag. He stole a lot of things from me, stuff I crafted and spent hours of hard work on, which broke down my confidence and my spirit and took a while for me to regain. I ended up having to move back home to Fredericksburg VA with my homophobic mother, who was trying to charge me rent with money I did not have, I thought moving home would be safe for me but it ended up being an even worse environment and I had to figure out a way to leave.
( April 2020 ) Once the height of Covid started I took the last hundred dollars I had to my name, hopped on a train and moved in to my best friends house in Silver Spring,
I used the time to practice my makeup every day until I perfected it, and built up my confidence again with the help of my friends and chosen family who encouraged me to not give up my drag and live my dreams. Drag not only became my escape into another world but it also saved my life.
In the middle of the covid epidemic I had finally saved up enough money I had made through gigs, to move into my first apartment, but soon realized that I was being scammed. I ran into an online scammer selling fake apartments. Luckily my identity was not stolen but the money I had worked so hard for save up was.
The drag community and online friends came together to help me get my money back and I was able to finally move into my own place.
(March 2021 ) After the height of covid I was in a relationship with a mentally abusive partner at the time who intentionally or unintentionally tried drag me down into his dark void, he actually tried to get me to stop doing drag and break down my confidence in myself.
But by then I had done the work to better myself and focus on was really important to me, my drag, and my self esteem. I ended it with him and dug deep into my roots of what I love .
At this time I started to incorporate cosplay into my drag aesthetic . I had always been a cosplayer before drag so i figured why not blend two worlds that I love. I made a vow to myself that I would never let a man or anyone come between me and the thing that saved my life time and time again, my Drag.
This is when I met my second drag mother Druex Sidora who saw my gift and vision in where I wanted to go in my career and pushed me to levels I never thought i could go.
The following year i competed for two more pageants. Drag duels 2022 in silver spring and DuPont Dynasty season 3 at DuPont Italian kitchen. I ended up wining both those pageants while also gaining the title of mx MoCo Pride 2022.
The hardest things so far I’ve had to deal with was my brother passing this past October 2025, he was very proud of my drag journey and with me every step of the way. He’s someone I will forever be grateful for.
As the years progressed drag has allowed me to accomplish so many huge things in my life, I’ve gotten to meet and perform for the vice president Kamala Harris, Ive performed at wedding in Italy,
I’ve spoken and performed at cosplay conventions such as Awesome con, Super Magfest, Flame con, and Far point.
I’ve been and starred in community plays with Highball productions and
I host my very own cosplay show at Jr’s bar in Dc
In the last two years I’ve won the title of MX Capital world pride 2025 and Mx Capital Pride 2026.
And I’ve even gotten married to the love of my life!
I plan to do so much more and continue to progress in my drag, I dream to be on drag race and inspire many young black artists with my story. The one thing I’ve learned in life is to never stop dreaming and reach for the stars!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My particular drag journey has been hard but fun.
Always finding new ways to reinvent myself can be a challenge,
Sometimes when gigs are slow it feels like there’s something you’re doing that’s wrong, and it can be hard to stay out of your head. The funny thing is most times it’s not always the case at all. It can just be the time of year.
Of course there are other days when you’re doing five gigs in one day and the struggle is real because you’re so exhausted by the third gig, but that’s what makes the experience rewarding as well.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a full time title holding drag artist.
I specialize in live performing and lip syncing to various artists.
I’m most proud of my achievements and accomplishments in drag artistry, I’ve been able to do it successfully for 7 years now,
The thing that sets my apart from others the most is my lip sync style and also my cosplay, I love to bring my nerdy side into my art and show people the many faces of Sirene.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Always dream big! Never feel like your goals are unreachable, all it takes if for you to take the first step, let the universe do the rest!
