Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Mitchell.
Hi Jeff, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started playing keyboards and organ at my dad’s church and I got a call in 2007 to play with cash Money. I’ve been hooked on playing live music ever since. Touring with artists turned into managing musicians, singers and bands. Connecting talent with the venues, event planners, restaurants, etc… has become my passion and love. I get to promote the DMV’s vast talent week in and week out!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not always been a smooth road but definitely a fun one. Sometimes people can be the biggest struggle. Booking talent can be tough b/c you can see something in someone that they just refuse to see in themselves and you want to help pull the very best out of ppl but sometimes they just don’t want it. Success can be very scary to some people. It’s sad.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a pro musician, most people do not know that I own several businesses. But definitely most known for booking bands in the DMV and helping connect businesses with local top talent. I really should move into A&R because I am developing a strong passion for the behind the scenes work of music entertainment. I am really proud of the work The Vibe is doing to push live music forward in Baltimore City. We have helped launch many solo careers just by giving artists a platform to come and hone their skills. No one else is providing artists touring level musicians (with real resumes) to accompany them as they perform! It’s a great feeling to see a local artist get behind the mic with a great band kill it!
