Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Davis.
Hi Michelle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey has been everything besides linear but creativity is the center of it all.
I am a Maryland-based singer/songwriter, worship leader, makeup artist, creative consultant, and mother of two amazing daughters. I began my professional career in the federal government, where I spent years developing skills in program management, operations, and community engagement. While that path provided stability, I always knew I was called to create.
Music was my first love. As a classically trained vocalist and songwriter performing under the name MissChelle Renée, I’ve had the opportunity to perform throughout the DMV and beyond, sharing stories of faith, healing, and personal growth through my music. Along the way, I also discovered a passion for beauty artistry and launched Gracing Faces, a makeup business focused on helping women feel confident, celebrated, and beautiful during life’s most meaningful moments.
Over the past year, I’ve experienced one of the most transformative seasons of my life. Navigating single motherhood, career transitions, entrepreneurship, and personal healing has required faith, resilience, and a willingness to reinvent myself. What could have been a season of loss became a season of becoming.
Today, I continue to build my music career, grow my beauty business, serve in ministry, and pursue opportunities that allow me to blend creativity, service, and storytelling. Whether I’m behind a microphone, in front of a makeup chair, on stage or leading in my community, my mission remains the same: to encourage others to embrace their God-given gifts, walk boldly through life’s transitions, and create a life that reflects who they were created to be.
Looking back, every chapter—from government employee to artist, entrepreneur, ministry leader, and mother—has prepared me for where I am today. And I believe the best part of the story is still being written.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. While I’m grateful for every chapter of my journey, it has been filled with pivots, setbacks, and seasons of uncertainty.
One of the biggest challenges has been balancing the many roles I carry. As a mother, entrepreneur, artist, ministry leader, and professional, there have been seasons where I felt stretched in every direction. Learning how to pursue my dreams while also providing stability for my family has required sacrifice, discipline, and a great deal of faith.
I’ve also experienced significant personal transitions that forced me to redefine who I was and what I wanted my life to look like. There were moments when plans I thought were permanent changed unexpectedly, and I had to learn how to move forward even when I didn’t have all the answers. Those seasons taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of trusting the process.
Professionally, I’ve had to overcome the fear that comes with starting over. Transitioning from the security of a traditional career into entrepreneurship and creative work required me to take risks, embrace uncertainty, and believe in myself even before I saw the results. Building a business, pursuing music, and creating opportunities from the ground up isn’t always glamorous. It often requires showing up consistently long before anyone notices the work happening behind the scenes.
Looking back, I wouldn’t describe the road as smooth, but I would describe it as purposeful. Every challenge strengthened my character, deepened my faith, and helped shape the woman I am today. The struggles taught me that growth often happens in the very seasons we would never choose for ourselves.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At my core, I am a storyteller. Whether through music, beauty, ministry, or creative consulting, my work is centered around helping people feel seen, empowered, and connected to who they were created to be.
Professionally, I wear several hats. As a singer/songwriter and performing artist, I create music that explores themes of faith, healing, self-discovery, and resilience. As a makeup artist and owner of Gracing Faces, I specialize in soft glam and elevated beauty experiences that help women feel confident and celebrated for life’s biggest moments. I also work behind the scenes as a creative consultant, supporting events, programs, and projects that bring people together through meaningful experiences.
What I’m most proud of isn’t a particular title or accomplishment—it’s my ability to continually reinvent myself while remaining authentic to who I am. Over the years, I’ve learned how to blend artistry, leadership, entrepreneurship, and service into a career that feels aligned with my purpose.
I believe what sets me apart is the heart behind my work. Whether someone is sitting in my makeup chair, listening to my music, attending an event I’ve helped create, or encountering me in ministry, I want them to leave feeling encouraged, valued, and inspired. Technical skill is important, but people rarely remember how talented you were as much as they remember how you made them feel.
I’m also proud of the fact that I’ve built my career across multiple disciplines. I’ve never fit neatly into one box, and for a long time I thought that was a weakness. Today, I see it as one of my greatest strengths. Every experience—from federal service to entrepreneurship, from performing on stage to raising two daughters—has contributed to the perspective I bring to my work and the people I serve.
If there’s one thing I’m known for, I hope it’s helping others recognize the beauty, purpose, and potential that already exists within them.
What does success mean to you?
Success is living with purpose, showing up even when afraid, walking in alignment, and leaving people better than I found them.
