Life & Work with Kattariya Klinbooppha of Maryland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kattariya Klinbooppha.

Hi Kattariya, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am originally from Thailand and now based in the Washington, DC area, where I run my photography business. My path was not perfectly planned, but it has always been led by connection, creativity, and care for people.

Before becoming a full time photographer, I spent years working closely with families and children, and that shaped the way I see people and the way I photograph them now. After moving to the United States in 2018, I slowly built my business from the ground up and turned photography into a career that feels deeply personal to me.

Today, I specialize in capturing meaningful moments for families, couples, and weddings in a way that feels natural, warm, and timeless. My journey has taught me that sometimes the most beautiful careers come from following what feels true to you and building it with patience.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was starting over in a new country and building a career from the ground up while adjusting to a different environment, culture, and way of life. There were also moments of self doubt, financial pressure, and uncertainty about whether I was on the right path.

Building a business in a creative field has taught me that growth is rarely linear. I had to learn not only how to improve my craft, but also how to market myself, communicate professionally, manage clients, and stay consistent even during slower seasons. There were times when things felt discouraging, but those moments also pushed me to become more resourceful, patient, and disciplined.

Looking back, the obstacles were a big part of what shaped me. They taught me resilience, gave me a deeper understanding of people, and helped me build a business with more purpose and heart.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a photographer and creative business owner based in the Washington, DC area. I specialize in family, motherhood, couples, and wedding photography, with a style that is light filled, natural, and emotionally grounded. My goal is always to create images that feel beautiful, honest, and timeless.

I am especially known for making people feel comfortable in front of the camera and for capturing connection in a way that feels genuine rather than overly posed. Because of my background working closely with children and families, I bring a calm, intuitive approach to my sessions, helping people relax and be themselves.

What sets me apart is the balance between artistry and human connection. I care deeply about how people feel during the experience, not just how the final images look. I am most proud of building a business from the ground up and creating work that preserves meaningful moments with both care and intention.

What makes you happy?
Happiness, for me, often comes from simple and meaningful things. In my personal life, it can be as small as thinking about what I am going to eat for my next meal. Food brings me comfort, joy, and something to look forward to in everyday life.

In my work, happiness comes when a client leaves me a five star review. It is not just about the rating itself, but about knowing that the experience I created and the work I delivered truly meant something to them. That kind of trust and appreciation makes me feel both fulfilled and motivated.
