Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrae Neither.
Hi Sabrae, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my barbering journey in 2011 at just 19 years old when I enrolled in barber school. At the time, I honestly thought it would only be something I did part-time, but once I got into the industry, I realized it was truly my passion. I worked in several barbershops over the years, learning different techniques, building relationships, and understanding the business side of the industry.
At 21, I opened my first hair salon. Unfortunately, the business failed, but that experience taught me some of the biggest lessons of my career. I went back to working in other shops, stayed consistent, and spent the next 10 years building my name, perfecting my craft, and growing my brand.
Eventually, all of that hard work led me to opening VIP Cuts. Along the way, I’ve won barber competitions, received industry awards, and even developed products designed specifically with my clients in mind. Looking back, every setback and every lesson helped shape where I am today.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges was experiencing my first business fail early on. I had to go back to the drawing board and really evaluate what went right, what went wrong, and how I could improve moving forward.
At the same time, I was navigating major life changes, becoming a parent, getting married, and later going through a divorce. Balancing personal responsibilities while building a business was not easy, but I stayed committed to my goals.
What kept me going was consistency and my dedication to improving my skill set. I’ve always focused on becoming a better barber, staying current in the industry, and continuing to grow professionally. That mindset helped me stay resilient through every challenge.
We’ve been impressed with VIP Cuts Barbershop, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At VIP Cuts, we pride ourselves on providing more than just haircuts, we focus on delivering a complete experience. One thing that sets us apart is that shampoo services are included with our services, which adds an extra level of care and professionalism for our clients.
We’re known for having highly skilled barbers, excellent customer service, and creating a family-friendly environment where everyone feels welcome. Our shop is very community-oriented, and we genuinely care about the people we serve.
What I’m most proud of is the reputation we’ve built through consistency, professionalism, and quality service. We’ve created a brand that people trust, and our goal is always to make sure our community feels valued every time they walk through our doors.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I think the barbering industry will continue to grow, especially with the rise of independent barber suites and private studio spaces for barbers. More professionals are looking for flexibility and ownership within the industry.
I also believe sanitation and cleanliness will continue becoming a bigger priority in barbershops. Clients are paying closer attention to hygiene standards, and barbers who take sanitation seriously will continue to stand out. Overall, I think the industry will keep evolving while still staying rooted in quality service and personal connection.
