Meet Zainab Ahmed of Wellness By Z

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zainab Ahmed.

Hi Zainab, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I got married at 19 years old and quickly stepped into the beautiful but demanding role of becoming a wife and mother. Wanting a big family meant my days were filled with newborn cries, sleepless nights, diaper changes, and learning how to care for a growing family while still trying to grow myself.

After my second child, I went through multiple postpartum health issues that deeply affected me both physically and emotionally. After rounds of antibiotics and steroids, my physical and mental health began declining. That difficult season became a turning point in my life and pushed me to start searching for a different path, one that focused on restoring the body rather than constantly suppressing symptoms.

Through that journey, I discovered holistic healing and began incorporating herbalism, cupping therapy, nutrition, and intentional lifestyle changes into my life. Experiencing the body’s ability to heal itself when properly supported and grounded in faith inspired me to pursue a deeper path in natural wellness.

In 2023 while expecting my third child and finally graduating, I realized this was bigger than just my own story. I wanted to deepen my knowledge so I could help other women who may be struggling through similar postpartum challenges, feeling unheard, discouraged, or disconnected from their health. That passion became one of the biggest driving forces behind my journey into holistic wellness and eventually creating Wellness By Z.

A lot of my learning happened during moments in the middle of chaos. Studying while rocking a baby to sleep, listening to lectures on Cupping while cooking dinner, reading about herbalism and naturopathy during nap times, and taking remote courses late at night after finally getting the kids settled. It wasn’t always easy, but it was something I truly felt passionate about. I wanted to build a future where I could both raise my family and help others heal naturally.

Now at 29 years old, expecting baby # 5, and running my small business I’ve come to appreciate the beauty and strength that can come from balancing motherhood, education, faith, responsibility, and purpose all at once. What began as a personal journey slowly turned into something much bigger. I was able to create Wellness By Z, a business centered around supporting women through holistic wellness education, natural healing approaches, and personalized care.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was learning how to balance motherhood, marriage, education, and building something for myself all at the same time. There were moments where I was exhausted taking care of newborns, running on little sleep, handling diaper changes and household responsibilities, while still trying to study and continue learning late into the night.

Because I chose a path centered around holistic wellness, a lot of my education required self-discipline and consistency. I had to seek out remote learning opportunities, spend countless hours researching, practicing, and expanding my knowledge in herbalism, cupping therapy, naturopathy, and other healing modalities while raising small children. There were definitely moments of self-doubt and overwhelm, especially trying to balance being present for my family while still pursuing my goals.

At the same time, one of the biggest blessings throughout this journey was having a supportive husband who believed in me and encouraged me to continue growing. His support with the children and household responsibilities gave me the confidence to keep learning, keep building, and keep pursuing something I was passionate about even during the busiest seasons of motherhood.

Building Wellness By Z also came with sacrifices and challenges. Starting a business as a young mother required patience, faith, and resilience. But looking back, every struggle helped shape me into who I am today. It made the journey more meaningful because everything I built came through real-life experience, perseverance, and a genuine passion for helping others heal and feel supported.

We’ve been impressed with Wellness By Z, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Wellness By Z is a holistic wellness business focused on helping women support their health naturally through education, personalized health protocols, and traditional healing modalities. My work is heavily centered around women’s wellness, postpartum recovery, nutrition, herbal support, cupping therapy, and helping clients better understand the connection between lifestyle, diet, emotional well-being, and overall health.

What makes my approach unique is that it comes from both education and real life experience. A lot of what I share and practice was inspired by my own healing journey through postpartum health struggles and learning how to restore my body naturally. Because of that, I approach clients with a lot of empathy and understanding. I know what it feels like to feel exhausted, unheard, and overwhelmed while trying to care for yourself and your family.

As a Certified Cupping Practitioner, Naturopathy practitioner and currently studying Unani Tibb (speciaizing in understanding our bodies natural temperaments) I focus on creating personalized wellness guidance that looks at the whole person rather than just isolated symptoms. I’m passionate about helping people understand that healing often requires supporting the body as a whole through nourishment, lifestyle changes, herbal support, stress management, faith, and creating an environment where the body can function the way it was designed to.

One thing that sets Wellness By Z apart is the heart behind it. I built this brand while raising children, studying late at night, and navigating my own healing journey, so it was never just about starting a business, it was about creating something meaningful that could genuinely help people. I want clients to feel supported, educated, and empowered instead of judged or dismissed.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust and connection I’ve been able to build with people. Many clients come to me during vulnerable seasons of life, and being able to support them in a compassionate and holistic way is something I never take for granted.

I want readers to know that Wellness By Z is more than just a wellness brand, it’s a space centered around healing, education, faith, and community. My goal is to continue helping people reconnect with their health naturally while reminding them that healing is not always instant, but the body is incredibly capable when properly supported.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
One of the biggest things that helped me was being willing to learn continuously and stay open to growth. Since a lot of my education came through remote learning, self-study, online courses, and hands-on experience while raising my family, I learned early on that mentorship does not always have to look traditional. Sometimes mentorship comes through teachers online, experienced practitioners, books, communities, or even simply being connected to people who inspire and challenge you to grow.

I think networking becomes much more meaningful when you genuinely lead with passion, humility, and authenticity rather than focusing only on “building connections.” A lot of the relationships and opportunities that helped me came naturally through sharing my journey, asking questions, staying consistent, and connecting with people who shared similar values and interests in holistic healing and wellness.

My advice would be to never be afraid to start before you feel fully ready. There were many moments where I was still learning while balancing motherhood, studying late at night, and building Wellness By Z step by step. But being consistent, teachable, and willing to keep showing up opened doors over time.

I also believe it’s important to find mentors or communities that align not only with your professional goals, but also with your values. For me, surrounding myself with people who encouraged faith, balance, compassion, and continuous learning made a huge difference. The right mentorship should inspire growth while still allowing you to stay true to who you are.
