Today we’d like to introduce you to Lala Economides.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started making cakes as a teenager for my 8 siblings birthdays. then I started a career in marketing a typical 9-5, I would come home on weekends and just make cakes for fun. one day my sister forced me to make a cake instagram and it took off. I had my first order the next week. I went down to part time 2 years later and then during covid I was able to quit entirely and purse baking full time.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
definitely not a smooth road. in the begining while I was still juggling my day Job there was so many sleepless nights. I offered free delivery in the begining and would spend my weekends driving to every corner of the dmv.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am know for glam cakes. my slogan is all of my girls are glam girls referring to my customers. I am most proud of my own growth. its no easy owning a small business especially as a single mother but ive put in so much ground work to get to where I am and right now over 50% of my weekly orders are returingin customers

How do you think about luck?
I dont think any luck. I think anyone who puts in the extra work will succeed. even currently on my days off I’ll make practice cakes to keep growing and getting better. theres always ways to improve
