Delante, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Handyman DLP started from an idea between Delante, the owner, and his father to build a trusted father-and-son home service business. Although his father sadly passed shortly after, Delante stayed committed to bringing that vision to life.
After years of networking, building relationships with skilled tradesmen, and providing reliable service, Handyman DLP has grown into a trusted business serving clients throughout the DMV area, with work continuing to expand beyond the region.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been an easy journey, and there have been plenty of challenges along the way, especially when projects don’t go exactly as planned. With constant travel between service calls, one of our biggest daily goals is making sure every appointment starts within a reasonable timeframe while accounting for traffic, unexpected delays, and material runs.
Building the business from the ground up has also required a major financial commitment, with much of the funding being invested back into the company internally. In the early stages, support from people in our circle, including tool donations, played a huge role in helping us grow and get to where we are today.
As you know, we’re big fans of Handyman DLP. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Handyman DLP is known for our strong customer service and positive client feedback. Many of our new customers come from referrals. We truly appreciate that support, which is why we offer referral discounts to returning clients on future appointments.
Our team includes skilled tradesmen across multiple fields, including electricians, plumbers, and other experienced professionals. What sets us apart is our 24-hour availability and flexibility to handle everything from small repairs to larger residential and commercial projects. We also maintain service contracts for several well-known stores and businesses.
Most importantly, we take pride in the trust and consistent reviews we receive from our clients. We want future customers to know that we’re here to help and would love the opportunity to be part of their home projects and ongoing maintenance needs.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
We see the industry continuing to grow rapidly, and we plan to grow right along with it. As Handyman DLP expands, we’re looking to introduce roadside assistance and mobile mechanic services to better serve our clients’ everyday needs.
Our goal is to continue expanding beyond the DMV into neighboring states over the next several years, reaching further north and south while creating more opportunities within the skilled trades industry. We’re proud to be building a business that contributes to and supports the country’s hardworking blue-collar workforce.
