Today we’d like to introduce you to Shyanne Ricchiuto.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started Shy Beauty with a passion for helping people feel confident and beautiful in their own skin. It started when I was a young girl who loved all things beauty, to attending the career and technology academy in highschool for cosmetology, and then a small service based business that quickly grew from word of mouth and building genuine relationships with my clients. Overtime I expanded my services to include lashes and spray tans as well as the bridal/event hair and makeup, really focusing on creating the one stop shop. Now, we have grown and moved to a Solomons store front, providing not just services but a whole experience for our customers. Alongside me is Alexia with Pure Harmony Esthetics who offers the services that I dont provide so we really give the one stop shop feel to our space.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasnt been a smooth road. Like most small businesses, there have been alot of challenges, especially in the beginning with building a steady clientele, managing finances, and figuring out how to wear so many hats at once. As the business grew, new challenges came with that too. Like time management with also being a professional cheerleader through the process, avoiding burnout, and learning how to scale while still maintaining the quality and experience im known for. But, honestly those challenges have been the biggest learning moments. Theyve helped me grow not just as a business owner, but as a person, and theyve shaped Shy Beauty into what it is today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I offer services like lashes, spray tans, and bridal hair and makeup. I also do hair braiding and tinsel for birthday parties and events, as well as makeup lessons and classes. I really focus on enhancing natural beauty in a way that still feels effortless and elevated. I think i am known for being very detail oriented and creating a comfortable, welcoming environment for my clients, I want people to feel relaxes and taken care of from the moment they walk in. What i am most proud of is how much the business has grown through word of mouth and client relationships. That means everything to me. What sets me apart is that I really care about both the service and the experience. Its not rushes or transactional, its very personalized.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My biggest advice would be to just start, even if you dont feel fully ready. Youre not going to have it all figured out right away. You learn so much through doing, and growth really comes from the experience. Id also say to stay consistent and patient. Building a business doesnt happen overnight, and a lot of success comes from showing up every day even when its slow. Most importantly, also focusing on your client experience and relationship. Thats what builds trust, referrals, and long term success.
