Meet Jennifer McCrea of The Ivy Cafe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer McCrea.

Hi Jennifer, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After moving to Easton, Jenn McCrea began her journey in the restaurant industry working the front counter at Fiddle Leaf Cafe—the same location that now houses The Ivy. Eager to immerse herself in the hospitality world, she simultaneously worked as a server at Morsels, quickly gaining hands-on experience in both the front-of-house and service sides of the business.
When the owners of Morsels decided to sell, an unexpected opportunity presented itself. At just 23 years old, she stepped forward and became the restaurant’s new owner—an impressive milestone that marked the beginning of her entrepreneurial path. After successfully running the business, she eventually sold Morsels and transitioned into a new chapter of her career, spending the next 12 years with Sysco, further deepening her knowledge of the food industry from a broader perspective.
After more than a decade with Sysco, she realized her passion wasn’t in foodservice sales but in the kitchen itself. Following her instincts, she left the corporate side of the industry and returned to what she loved most—cooking and hospitality. Soon after, she purchased Hills Soda Fountain Cafe, where she spent just shy of ten years building a loyal following and refining her culinary vision.
When the building was eventually sold, the timing proved serendipitous. A nearby space in Easton—in need of a little care and someone with imagination—was waiting for its next chapter. In 2021, she introduced The Ivy Cafe, transforming the space into a charming destination for both locals and visitors. Known by many as “the most magical spot in Easton,” The Ivy offers a lush courtyard perfect for outdoor dining as well as an inviting indoor dining room.
But Jen’s vision didn’t stop at daytime service. While The Ivy quickly became a beloved lunch destination, she expanded the concept to include intimate fine-dining and catered events held right within the restaurant’s dining space—creating a setting where celebrations, gatherings, and memorable meals come together in a truly special way.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey was far from effortless. Becoming a business owner at just 23 years old came with its share of unexpected challenges and lessons learned along the way. Years later, another pivotal moment arrived when the building that housed Hills Soda Fountain Cafe was sold in the midst of the global upheaval caused the pandemic. At the same time, the future home of The Ivy Cafe required significant restoration and vision to bring it to life. What could have been discouraging instead became another opportunity—one that ultimately led to the creation of the vibrant and welcoming space that locals and visitors know today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Ivy Cafe?

What makes you happy?
Outside the fast pace of the restaurant world, I find joy in the quieter, more personal moments of life. While creating memorable meals and welcoming guests into The Ivy Cafe is deeply fulfilling, her happiness also comes from the simple routines beyond the kitchen. Time spent at home, especially with her beloved pet parrot, offers a balance to the energy of the hospitality industry. Whether caring for her feathered companion or simply enjoying a slower moment after a busy day of service, it’s these small, meaningful pieces of life that keep her grounded and inspired.
