Meet Peter Furey of Chesapeake Custom Print & Ship

Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter Furey.

Hi Peter, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up in Easton, Maryland, and although I moved around for a time, I eventually found my way back home. There’s always been something about this community that feels like home to me. I knew that if I was going to step away from a traditional 9-5 and start a business, I wanted it to be here on the Eastern Shore, somewhere I could serve and support the community I most care about.

After exploring a variety of industries, I ultimately found my way to shipping and printing. I had some prior experience working at a small postal counter inside a retail high end pharmacy, which gave me a foundation and sparked my interest in the industry.

In January 2024, our team and I acquired Postal Suites Plus and began the process of transforming it into Chesapeake Custom Print & Ship. While we’re proud to carry on the legacy of Postal Suites, we’ve also embraced a new identity, expanding our services and evolving into a more comprehensive resource for our customers.

Today, our focus is on continuing to grow while staying rooted in the community that made all of this possible.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any small business, it hasn’t always been a smooth road. There are days when everything runs seamlessly, and others where it feels like everything that could go wrong does. But those challenges are part of the process. Each day, whether it’s a win or a setback, has been an opportunity to learn, adapt, and improve.

As you know, we’re big fans of Chesapeake Custom Print & Ship. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Chesapeake Custom Print & Ship is a full-service print, pack, and ship center focused on making personal and business projects easy for our customers. We handle everything from professional design to printing, such as business cards, banners, blueprints, promotional products, marketing materials, and more. In our pack and ship center, we partner with major carriers like USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL for a variety of shipping options and speeds. We’ve also expanded into a gift shop, featuring unique and interesting gifts for even the hard-to-shop-for.

What really sets us apart is our strong focus on the customer experience. We’re not just here to complete a transaction, we’re here to help our customers find the best solutions for their needs. Whether it’s the right print material for their goals, making sure their fragile item is secured for shipping, or helping bring an idea to life, we’re here to help every step of the way. Being locally owned and part of the community means we genuinely care about the people we serve.

Over time, we’ve grown to 4.8 stars on Google and are known as a reliable, go-to resource for printing and shipping needs. We take pride in being approachable, knowledgeable, and dependable.

From brand perspective, what I’m most proud of is how we’ve been able to build on the legacy of Postal Suites while creating something new, modern, and more expansive. We’ve worked hard to grow into a business that reflects both quality and trust, while continuing to evolve based on what our community needs.

What I’d want the readers to know most is that we’re here to help. Whether it’s a small personal project or a larger business need, we aim to make the process simple, professional, and stress-free.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
As I keep up with current events and trends in printing and shipping, I keep my options open, while not necessarily relying on one specific source.
