Check Out Carlene Levy’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlene Levy.

Hi Carlene, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
A little girl from Jamaica who moved to New York City with ambition and a vision bigger than her circumstances. I carried a deep desire to become a phenomenal woman who inspires others, and as I grew older, that determination matured into purpose.
My journey has been one of self-discovery and faith, layered with resilience, motherhood, and the courage to step boldly into who I’m called to be.
Over the years, I’ve evolved into a business owner with multiple streams of income, building not just brands but a legacy for my family. Everything I create is rooted in empowerment, helping others believe they can evolve, elevate their mindset, and create their own opportunities.
Every level of my life has required a new version of me, and I’ve chosen to grow into her every single time.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Has it been a smooth road? Ha! If you’re talking about a straight path, we’ll have to redirect, because my journey has been bumpy and full of lessons along the way. I often had to stop myself, Okay, Carlene… who are you again, and what’s your why? I knew I had purpose, and lost my momentum at times.

The pandemic definitely shook things up, but it also gave me clarity. I leaned on faith, asked God for guidance, and sought mentorship. I started reading personal development books like Vulnerability by Brene Brown, The Greatness Within by Les Brown, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou, and The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, to name a few. I also surrounded myself with people who were leveling up, while helping others, and slowly, I rebuilt my focus and refueled my momentum.

All that inner work, the messy, honest, sometimes laugh-at-yourself moments of self-discovery, strengthened my core, deepened my self-love, and reminded me that stepping boldly into my purpose isn’t a destination, it’s a daily choice.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a licensed cosmetologist and makeup artist in the beauty industry, currently expanding my expertise as I work toward becoming a Trichologist. I specialize in hair and skincare, creating organic products designed to nourish, protect, and help all hair types and textures flourish.

My brand is deeply inspired by my Jamaican heritage and the natural ingredients I grew up around, ingredients that I later reconnected with when I began my own natural hair journey.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just sell products; I understand the science, the structure, and the emotional connection to our hair, our crown.

There was a time when my hair was dry, brittle, and breaking. My edges were thinning, and I felt disconnected from my confidence. That struggle led me to cosmetology school, in-depth research, and conversations with others experiencing hair loss. I didn’t just want a quick fix. I wanted real solutions.

Today, I’m most proud of the knowledge I’ve gained and continue to build. I’m committed to helping others restore not only their hair health but also their confidence, because loving your hair and loving your skin is part of loving who you are.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe risk isn’t always a dramatic leap; sometimes it’s the quiet decision to bet on yourself every single day. Every time you start a new project, formulate a new skincare product, or step into a vision that hasn’t fully unfolded yet, you’re taking a risk. There’s no guarantee it will succeedon the first attempt.
One of the biggest risks I’ve taken was investing in myself by going to cosmetology school, building my brand, and creating products rooted in my journey, even when I did not have the answers. I’ve launched ideas that didn’t go as planned. I’ve had to reformulate, rethink, rebuild. Failure to me is feedback.
Risk to me is choosing growth over comfort. It’s stepping into rooms before you feel fully ready and trusting that you’ll rise to meet the moment. Every level of my journey, from rebuilding my hair to rebuilding my vision, required me to take risks, and that stretched me. Those risks shaped the woman and entrepreneur I am today. And I choose evolution!
