Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Walker & Talecia Izlar.
Hi Kimberly Walker & Talecia Izlar, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Our story really started in 2018 when Talecia and I met as coworkers. From the beginning, we connected because we shared a similar work ethic and a deep passion for the field of mental health. We also shared a lot of conversations about what therapy looked like in our communities and how it could evolve.
At one point I asked Talecia if she would ever consider going into business together to create what we jokingly called a “millennial version of therapy for the culture”, therapy that felt modern, culturally responsive, and grounded in a strong social work perspective. She was interested, and by June 2019 we began planning what would eventually become Infinite Wellness. Even then, we envisioned not only a for-profit practice but also a future nonprofit sister organization that could expand our community impact.
Then, of course, the pandemic hit in 2020. Like many people, we paused our growth plans. We wanted to see what the world of therapy would look like post-pandemic, especially with the sudden rise of telehealth. We took that time to observe the field and think intentionally about how we wanted to build.
By 2023, we felt like we had a clearer understanding of where mental health services were heading, so we decided it was time to relaunch the vision. We spent that entire year laying the foundation building systems, thinking about culture, and making sure we could grow in a way that felt sustainable and aligned with our values.
In March 2024, we accepted our very first client at Infinite Wellness and hired our first clinician. From there, things really began to blossom. Because of the quality of care we prioritize and the incredible professionals we’ve added to the team, the practice has grown rapidly.
Today, Infinite Wellness has 18 providers, 9 interns, an administrative assistant, a clinical coordinator, a social media manager, a community marketing coordinator, and several community partners who help us expand our reach.
At the core of Infinite Wellness is the belief that healing doesn’t happen in isolation. During our individual therapy work early in our careers, we noticed how often family dynamics and communication patterns influenced a person’s symptoms and overall functioning. We also saw that when family members were engaged in the process, clients made much more progress.
So our mission became clear: support the wellness of the entire family system.
With our collaborative specialties, Talecia Izlar and I created Infinite Wellness as an outpatient mental health practice focused on addressing emotional, psychological, spiritual, and physical well-being through individual, couples, and family therapy.
Ultimately, our goal is to help people move toward a true state of wellness, not just individually, but as families and communities.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would love to say it’s been a completely smooth road, but like most entrepreneurial journeys, it really hasn’t been. Building something meaningful usually comes with challenges, and Infinite Wellness has been no exception.
One of the biggest challenges early on was timing. We began planning in 2019 with a lot of excitement and vision, and then the pandemic hit in 2020. That forced us to pause and really rethink what the future of therapy would look like. Telehealth was suddenly becoming the primary way services were delivered, and we weren’t sure if that would be temporary or a permanent shift in the field. So instead of rushing forward, we made the intentional decision to slow down and observe the landscape.
Another challenge has been building something that truly reflects our values while also navigating the realities of running a business. As clinicians, we’re trained to care for people, but entrepreneurship requires learning about operations, finances, hiring, systems, and leadership. There’s definitely been a learning curve there.
There are also unique challenges that come with building a practice focused on serving Black and Brown communities. Mental health stigma still exists, access to culturally responsive care can be limited, and we’ve had to be very intentional about building trust within the community while also growing sustainably.
But I will say that those challenges have also shaped us. They forced us to slow down, be strategic, and build a stronger foundation. And because of that, when we relaunched and began growing, we were able to do it in a way that felt aligned with our mission and values.
So while the road hasn’t always been smooth, every challenge has really helped us build Infinite Wellness into what it is today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Infinite Wellness?
Infinite Wellness is an outpatient mental health practice dedicated to supporting the well-being of the entire family system. Our work focuses on helping children, teenagers, adults, couples, and families navigate emotional, psychological, and relational challenges while moving toward a state of overall wellness.
What makes our practice unique is that we approach therapy through a social work lens, meaning we look at the whole person and the environment around them not just symptoms. We believe healing happens not only within individuals but also within families, relationships, and communities.
Our practice was created with the intention of providing culturally responsive care, particularly for Black and Brown communities who have historically faced barriers to accessing quality mental health support. We are passionate about creating spaces where people feel seen, understood, and supported without having to explain their cultural experiences or identities.
We specialize in areas such as family and couples therapy, trauma-informed care, perinatal and maternal mental health, child and adolescent therapy, and life transitions. Because of our team’s diverse specialties, we are able to address a wide range of needs within the family unit.
One of the things that truly sets Infinite Wellness apart is our team-centered model of care. We have intentionally built a multidisciplinary team that includes licensed clinicians, interns in training, administrative support, and community partners. This allows us to serve clients holistically while also mentoring and developing the next generation of mental health professionals.
Brand-wise, what we are most proud of is the culture we’ve created internally and externally. Internally, we’ve built a space where clinicians feel supported, supervised, and encouraged to grow professionally. Externally, we’ve worked hard to create a brand that feels approachable, modern, and reflective of the communities we serve.
What we want people to know about Infinite Wellness is that we are deeply committed to breaking down stigma around mental health, increasing access to culturally responsive care, and helping families heal and grow together. Our goal is not just to provide therapy sessions, but to contribute to a larger movement toward wellness within our communities.
