Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Margaret P Bean.
Hi Dr. Margaret P, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story really started with two things that have always been a part of me, creativity and service. I spent over 25 years working in government, higher education, and international development, building a strong foundation in leadership and operations. But even while I was doing that work, the artist in me never went away.
I eventually leaned into that creative calling and wrote my first stage play. That opened the door to directing, teaching, and building spaces where people could grow, heal, and feel seen. From there, MPB Entertainment and the Creative Academy of the Arts were born.
Today, I blend everything I’ve learned, professional excellence, storytelling, and a heart for people. I write, direct, teach, and create systems that protect and uplift artists. It’s been a journey of listening to God, trusting my gifts, and following the path that empowers others through the arts.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all, and honestly, I don’t think it was supposed to be. My journey has had plenty of bumps, detours, and seasons where I had to rebuild myself from the inside out.
I’ve faced abandonment, rejection, and moments where I had to fight to believe in my own voice. I’ve navigated the challenges of being a teen mother, overcoming dyslexia, and pushing through environments where I had to work twice as hard just to be seen. And stepping into the creative world brought its own set of struggles, learning the business side, protecting my work, and creating systems that honor artists in an industry that doesn’t always do that.
But every challenge shaped me. The hard seasons taught me resilience, discipline, and compassion. They pushed me to create the kind of spaces, on stage, in classrooms, and in my company, where people feel safe, valued, and empowered. The struggles didn’t stop me; they refined me. They helped me build the voice, the vision, and the purpose I walk in today.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At my core, I’m a storyteller, a director, and an educator who believes the arts can heal, empower, and transform people from the inside out. Through MPB Entertainment and the Creative Academy of the Arts, I create spaces where creativity and personal growth go hand in hand.
What I do
I wear a few hats, all connected by purpose:
I write and direct original stage plays rooted in faith, healing, and real‑life experiences.
I teach acting, both in‑person workshops and through my online academy, helping beginners build confidence and discover their voice.
What I specialize in
I’m known for blending:
Creative excellence
Professional structure
Emotional and spiritual empowerment
My work isn’t just about producing a show; it’s about creating an environment where people feel safe, valued, and inspired to grow.
What I’m most proud of
I’m proud that I’ve built a creative legacy while still working full‑time. I’m proud of the students who’ve gained confidence because of my workshops. And I’m proud that my productions consistently uplift audiences and leave them feeling seen and encouraged.
But more than anything, I’m proud that I’ve created spaces where people can heal through creativity, because that’s the heart of everything I do.
What sets me apart
What sets me apart is the way I merge purpose, professionalism, and care. I don’t just direct a show; I build a culture. I don’t just teach acting; I help people reclaim their voice. And I don’t just write stories; I write with intention, with spiritual depth, and with a commitment to honoring the people who bring those stories to life.
My work is ministry, mentorship, and artistry all woven together, and that combination is what makes my approach unique.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t use the word luck to describe my journey. “I’m blessed,” and I’m intentional. For me, the role of luck isn’t an option; what I have, what I’ve built, and where I’m going are all the result of faith, hard work, and obedience to the calling on my life.
That doesn’t mean the road has been easy. I’ve had to push through challenges, rebuild after setbacks, and keep moving even when the path wasn’t clear. But every door that opened, every opportunity that found me, and every person who crossed my path did so by divine alignment, not chance.
In my business, I rely on preparation, excellence, and integrity. I show up fully, I do the work, and I trust God with the outcome. That combination has carried me farther than luck ever could. My story is proof that when you walk in purpose, you don’t need luck; you need faith, discipline, and the courage to keep saying “yes” to what you’re called to do.
