Today we’d like to introduce you to Jevone Levi.
Hi Jevone, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story is deeply rooted in family, faith, and purpose.
I come from a family that has experienced the realities of addiction firsthand. My mother struggled with addiction for years and is now proudly 22 years sober. Watching her journey, her pain, her perseverance, and her healing became one of the greatest inspirations in my life and planted the seed for my desire to help others.
That calling led me into the behavioral health and substance use field, where I began my professional journey at Penn North Wellness and Recovery Center, located in the heart of Baltimore City, the Uptown community. Once a thriving hub of Black culture, music, and business, the community now bears the weight of generational trauma and the impact of drugs & poverty. I started as an Outreach Specialist in this very same neighborhood, walking the streets and alleys daily, often in dangerous environments, educating people about harm reduction, distributing Narcan, to reverse overdoses, clothing, food to, and encouraging individuals to seek treatment.
My heart has always been service driven. That commitment led me to quickly grow within the organization, eventually becoming the Development Manager. In this role, I helped write grant proposals and played a key role in helping the organization secure critical funding to support programs, services, and community based initiatives. I also helped build/restructure programs, managed large scale projects, and oversaw the Greater Baltimore Regional Integrated Crisis System grant, working closely with crisis response organizations across Baltimore City. Watching clients successfully complete treatment and reintegrate into the community was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. It affirmed that I was walking in purpose.
Today, I serve as the Operations Manager for Baltimore’s, Local Behavioral Health Authorities, continuing my work from the technical and systems side, ensuring programs and services run efficiently and effectively. Looking back, I now understand that the obstacles I faced throughout my life were quietly shaping me for this work, even when I did not yet see it.
In 2025, after beginning my own therapy journey, I was encouraged to share my story more openly. That is when The Jevone Perspective was born, a mental health podcast available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. The podcast documents my healing journey, from learning how to sit with pain, process childhood trauma, and rediscover self love. What began as a personal outlet quickly became a platform for connection and healing.
I later expanded the podcast into in person healing events, bringing together licensed therapists, clinicians, doctors, life coaches, and everyday people to have honest, meaningful conversations about mental health. Since 2025, I have hosted three successful live events, each creating powerful moments of breakthrough, reflection, and community. Many attendees have reached out afterward to share how these spaces encouraged them to begin or continue their own healing journeys. Seeing professionals who look like them and speak with authenticity has helped people realize that it is possible to heal out loud and heal with intention.
My vision is for The Jevone Perspective to become a nationwide movement, creating safe, inclusive spaces that honor vulnerability, growth, and the courage it takes to become a better version of yourself. None of this would be possible without the grace of God, forgiveness, gratitude, and discipline. I have also learned the importance of being gentle with myself on the hardest days, reminding myself that healing is not linear. There will be ebbs and flows, but perseverance and resilience matter, because you never truly know who is being inspired by your story.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it has not been a smooth road. While addiction was not the only thing I grew up around, it was a part of my upbringing and something I witnessed at different points in my life. Seeing it shaped my awareness early on and helped me understand how deeply it can impact individuals, families, and communities.
Professionally, working on the front lines of behavioral health came with real challenges. Being exposed to trauma, loss, and crisis situations took an emotional toll. There were moments of burnout, doubt, and exhaustion, especially while trying to remain present and supportive for others.
At the same time, I was navigating my own personal growth. I had to confront unresolved experiences, learn healthier boundaries, and release the belief that it was my responsibility to fix or save everyone else. Seeking therapy was a turning point for me. It allowed me to slow down, reflect, and understand that healing requires intention and self compassion.
Building The Jevone Perspective also came with its own challenges. Starting something from the ground up required vulnerability, consistency, and faith. There were moments of uncertainty and fear, but I stayed rooted in the belief that sharing my story could help someone else feel seen and supported.
The struggles along the way taught me that growth is rarely linear. There are highs and lows, but resilience, grace, and staying connected to purpose made it possible to keep moving forward.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am the founder of The Jevone Perspective, a mental health platform that blends storytelling, community engagement, and live healing experiences. I specialize in creating safe, intentional spaces where licensed clinicians, specialists, and everyday people come together for honest conversations about mental health, healing, and personal growth.
I am known for leading with vulnerability, authenticity, and purpose, using my lived experience and professional background in behavioral health to make mental health conversations accessible and relatable. What I am most proud of is the impact. Seeing people feel seen, begin therapy, set boundaries, or take the first step in their healing journey because of something I shared or created is deeply meaningful to me.
What sets me apart is my ability to bridge worlds. I connect clinical expertise with real life experience, structure with heart, and healing with community. I do not just talk about healing. I create spaces where it can actually happen.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I would not be where I am without the support of my community. When I hosted my first in person event, I leaned heavily on trusted friends who are clinicians, life coaches, and mental health advocates. They believed in the vision early on and stepped in to help facilitate conversations, hold space, and ensure the events were both impactful and intentional.
I want to give special thanks to Tyesha Hill, D’Shawn Harris, Dr. Sy’Quon Shaw, Marcel Harris, Anthony Duncan, and Coach Bev Perez, whose expertise, presence, and willingness to show up helped bring these spaces to life. I am also deeply grateful to Dead the Silence and Safe Haven Therapy, whose advocacy, collaboration, and shared commitment to mental health helped strengthen the foundation of this work.
I am equally thankful for every supporter who showed up, participated, and believed in the mission. Their presence, trust, and energy are what turned these events into meaningful experiences and made their success possible.
